Job description

Job Description

As a Network & Automation Technician within the Telecommunications team, you will:

  • Support PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), SCADA, DCS, and industrial automation systems;
  • Assist with the configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of control systems;
  • Support industrial networks and communications between control systems, field devices, and third-party equipment;
  • Perform communication checks, input/output (I/O) testing, loop checks, and functional testing;
  • Assist in troubleshooting issues related to PLCs, SCADA and DCS systems, networks, and field devices;
  • Participate in the verification of control panels, cabinets, and field wiring;
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities;
  • Assist engineers with system integration, testing, and the resolution of technical issues;
  • Support project managers with technical follow-up, coordination, and project documentation;
  • Prepare and update technical documentation, including drawings, I/O lists, network information, test sheets, reports, equipment lists, and as-built documentation;
  • Coordinate activities with engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients, as required;
  • Provide remote and on-site technical support during project execution;
  • Support the preparation, configuration, and testing of equipment prior to shipment or deployment to site.


Qualifications

  • College diploma in automation, controls, electrical engineering technology, electronics, networking, or a related field;
  • Knowledge of PLC, SCADA, DCS, and industrial automation systems;
  • Understanding of industrial networks and communication protocols;
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, control schematics, and technical documentation;
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong computer and technical documentation skills;
  • Availability and willingness to travel approximately 40% of the year, including internationally;
  • Comfortable working on industrial sites and supporting commissioning activities for extended periods when required;
  • Proficiency in both French and English, spoken and written, is required (to collaborate with teams located outside Quebec, as 15% of the Vice-President’s teams are based outside Quebec, as well as with clients located outside Quebec, who represent 70% of the Vice-President’s client base).
