Job Title: Systems Analyst II
Job Type: 6-month contract (potential conversion to permanent full-time)
Location: Mississauga, ON (Hybrid; Resource is expected to be onsite at least 2 times per month)
Additional Location: Markham, Ontario
Travel: Not specified; role supports global locations across multiple time zones
After-Hours: Emergency infrastructure support and occasional weekend maintenance required
Rate: $45/hr T4 OR $55/hr Inc.
Role Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Systems Analyst II to lead the management, maintenance, and improvement of data centre, server, cloud, storage, and network infrastructure. The successful candidate will support reliable, secure, and highly available technology services within a global 24x7 operating environment. This is a senior technical role requiring strong infrastructure administration, troubleshooting, Tier 2/3 escalation, project support, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, monitor, maintain, and support production and non-production data centre and network infrastructure.
- Administer Windows and Linux servers across cloud, virtualized, and on-premises environments.
- Perform server and application upgrades, patching, backups, restores, troubleshooting, and system maintenance.
- Support Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure, networking, and infrastructure improvement initiatives.
- Maintain highly available production systems supporting operations across multiple time zones.
- Administer identity and access management for infrastructure, file shares, SharePoint, and business applications.
- Serve as a Tier 2/3 escalation point for infrastructure and help desk issues.
- Provide after-hours emergency support and participate in occasional weekend maintenance.
- Develop, document, and test disaster recovery and contingency procedures.
- Monitor security events, system performance, capacity, and infrastructure availability.
- Conduct audits and help ensure compliance with security, privacy, and operational policies.
- Lead infrastructure improvement initiatives, migrations, upgrades, and system implementations.
- Maintain technical documentation, knowledge-base materials, configuration records, and user guides.
- Mentor and provide knowledge transfer to Systems Analyst I and other team members.
- Track infrastructure projects and incidents through the IT ticketing system through to resolution.
Required Qualifications
- 7–10 years of progressive infrastructure administration experience.
- 3–5+ years of server and storage administration, engineering, or analysis experience.
- Post-secondary education in Information Technology or a related discipline.
- Strong experience managing Windows Server environments.
- Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, including multiple domains and forests.
- Experience with Exchange, Certificate Services, Federation Services, System Center, IIS, and SQL Server.
- Experience administering Linux servers in virtualized environments.
- Experience with RHEL Linux, Oracle Linux, and/or Rocky Linux.
- Experience supporting mid-sized to large server environments across cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
- Experience with automation, patching, installation, configuration, upgrades, and server troubleshooting.
- Experience configuring and managing enterprise SAN or cloud-storage technologies.
- Knowledge of SMTP, DNS, message transport, and mail-routing technologies.
- Experience supporting highly available, business-critical infrastructure.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent and conflicting priorities.
- Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
- Technical documentation and procedure-writing experience.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a team.
- Ability to provide Tier 2/3 support and mentor junior technical team members.
- Availability for after-hours emergencies and occasional weekend maintenance.
