About the Position:
Lambton College of Applied Arts and Technology invites applications from qualified individuals for part-time clinical instructor positions in the Personal Support Worker (PSW), Practical Nursing (PN), and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) programs.
This role requires a commitment of 1 to 2 days per week across day and afternoon shifts. Clinical instruction takes place in the community at clinical sites, including local hospitals and long-term care settings, and will begin in January .
Successful incumbents may be required to complete clinical-agency-specific orientation. Rate of pay will be determined at the time of hire in accordance with education and qualifications, based on the classification form in the Collective Agreement.
Specific Accountabilities:
•Fostering a positive teaching and learning environment
•Being available for weekday email communication with students and faculty. Consulting with colleagues as required
•Preparing clinical daily plans and providing instruction using a variety of teaching techniques and current technologies that enhance student success
•Delivering courses in accordance with curriculum standards
•Monitoring student performance, maintaining progress reports, and encouraging student success. Administering and grading assignments and assessments in a timely manner.
•Follow the Lambton College Academic Calendar and all related policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
•Candidates must be registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
•Candidates teaching in the BScN program must have a minimum BScN degree; a Masters degree in Nursing is preferred.
•Candidates teaching in the Practical Nursing or PSW program must have a minimum RPN diploma, with experience in the expanded scope of practice; a BScN is preferred.
•Candidates must be able to work cooperatively with students, faculty, and personnel in clinical partner agencies
The following are also considered an asset:
•Recent work experience in hospital settings, including acute and post-acute care, with experience documenting in Oracle (previously Cerner).
•Recent work experience in long-term care.
•Computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office programs, Brightspace (D2L) or other learning management systems, and clinical documentation programs such as CompTracker.
•Teaching experience with adult learners and an understanding of adult learning principles.
