3rd or 2nd Class Operating Engineer

3rd or 2nd Class Operating Engineer IS2 Workforce Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and safety?focused 3rd or 2nd Class Operating Engineer to support the safe and efficient operation of our 1st Class power plant and site utility systems. The successful candidate will have strong technical knowledge of boiler room equipment, industrial refrigeration and chiller systems, water treatment processes, and compressed air systems. You are a self?starter with excellent problem?solving abilities, capable of working with minimal supervision, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental protection. You are comfortable performing minor equipment maintenance, issuing and managing safety work clearances, and supporting continuous improvement in plant operations. Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor 1st Class power plant equipment and site utilities safely and efficiently.
• Maintain hands?on working knowledge of boiler systems, industrial refrigeration, chillers, water treatment systems, and compressed air systems.
• Perform routine inspections, equipment checks, and minor maintenance tasks.
• Issue and manage safety work clearances in accordance with Cameco procedures.
• Respond to alarms, equipment issues, and abnormal operating conditions promptly and effectively.
• Maintain accurate logs, records, and operational documentation.
• Support environmental protection standards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Work collaboratively with operations and maintenance teams to ensure reliable plant performance.
• Demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Valid 3rd Class or 2nd Class Power Engineer Certificate (Ontario).
• Strong understanding of boiler operations, pressure systems, and industrial utilities.
• Experience with refrigeration/chiller systems, water treatment, and compressed air systems.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong problem?solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Commitment to safety, environmental protection, and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to perform minor maintenance and equipment adjustments.
• Comfortable issuing and managing safety work clearances.

Work Schedule

• 12?hour shifts
• Continental rotation
• Days and nights

Hourly Rate

• 3rd Class Operating Engineer: $50.75
• 2nd Class Operating Engineer: $55.88
