Our public sector health client is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Architect to lead security architecture strategy using Azure Cloud, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), and Microsoft Defender

Join a large-scale public sector health environment focused on securing enterprise platforms, systems, and data across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments. This role provides architectural leadership across Azure Cloud, VCF, and Microsoft Defender initiatives, including security roadmaps, standards, and reference architectures. The position supports enterprise-level security decision-making, target-state architecture planning, and modernization of security capabilities.

This is a Security Domain Architect role: the successful candidate will own the cyber security domain, set strategic direction, and help the organization make technology decisions going forward. It is a strategic, advisory position with no operational or implementation responsibilities. The immediate priority is building out security domain roadmaps, including the roadmap methodology and facilitating roadmap development with stakeholders. The architect will work closely with solution and domain architects and will partner with a separate cyber security team as a stakeholder.

**Must Haves**

* 3+ years in a Security Architect role delivering enterprise security architecture initiatives

* Demonstrated Security Domain Architect experience: setting direction and strategic perspective for a cyber security domain

* Development of multi-year Security Domain roadmaps aligned to enterprise strategy, with the ability to explain roadmap methodology and how past roadmaps moved a previous organization forward

* Experience collaborating with other organizations and stakeholder groups to define and facilitate roadmaps

* Azure security architecture including Entra ID, Azure-native security controls, and cloud governance

* Microsoft Defender and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) security architecture experience

* Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related discipline

**Nice to Have**

* Azure Security Engineer Associate certification

* Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification

* Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

* Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)

* Experience with HIPAA, PHIPA, NIST, or ISO/IEC frameworks

**Responsibilities**

* Develop and manage multi-year Security Domain roadmaps aligned with enterprise strategy

* Define the roadmap methodology and facilitate roadmap planning sessions with stakeholders

* Set direction for the security domain and help guide technology decisions going forward

* Assess the security domain, including current-state security architecture, target-state models, and gap analysis

* Evaluate existing security architectures and emerging technologies, and recommend improvements

* Define and maintain security architecture standards, controls, and reference architectures

* Lead and help resolve architecture decisions moving forward

* Provide architectural leadership across Azure Cloud and VCF environments

* Define security design principles for hybrid cloud platforms

* Act as a technical leader and influencer, supporting stakeholder engagement across the organization

* Work closely with solution and domain architects, and partner with the cyber security team as a key stakeholder

* Advise stakeholders on security risks, mitigation strategies, and architectural alternatives
