About the Role
The Ontario Government's Employment and Training Division delivers Employment Ontario, a major program supporting Ontarians in gaining the training, skills, and experience needed to achieve their employment and career goals.
The Employment Ontario Information Systems (EOIS) is the primary IT environment supporting the administration of Employment Ontario programs. The environment includes CaMS, Service Provider lifeCycle (SPL), EO Self Service (EOSS), APPR, Ontario Job Grant (OJG), and APPR Apply Online (AOL).
The successful Senior Software Developer – ETL will support the design, development, testing, maintenance, and enhancement of data warehousing, ETL, business intelligence, reporting, and analytics solutions.
The environment includes JEE, CURAM, Crystal Reports, Oracle SQL/PL/SQL, Oracle Database, Power BI, BusinessObjects Enterprise (BOE), BusinessObjects Universe, WebI, dashboarding, bursting technologies, and Informatica ETL.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform analysis, design, development, unit testing, defect fixing, troubleshooting, and documentation within data warehousing and business intelligence environments.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Informatica mappings.
- Design and develop ETL processes/scripts to extract, transform, and load data from OLTP databases into Data Warehouses and Data Marts.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Oracle SQL and PL/SQL solutions.
- Design and develop Crystal Reports, Power BI reports, and BOE reports.
- Develop and maintain business intelligence, reporting, analytics, and data warehousing solutions.
- Work with Data Warehouse architecture, dimensional modelling, reporting, and ETL concepts.
- Analyze and design changes to existing web-based software solutions.
- Participate throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including Agile development activities.
- Perform application design, coding, testing, debugging, deployment, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.
- Identify defects and implement appropriate technical fixes.
- Communicate development progress, issues, risks, and solutions clearly and in a timely manner to management and project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with IT professionals, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts.
- Participate in technical discussions and design walkthroughs.
- Provide post-implementation technical support and resolve production issues.
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to technical direction where required.
Requirements
Mandatory Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate all of the following:
1. Data Warehousing & BI – 5+ Years
- 5+ years of experience performing analysis, design, development, unit testing, defect fixing, and related activities in Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence environments.
2. Crystal Reports, Power BI & BOE – 5+ Years
- 5+ years of experience designing and developing:
- Crystal Reports
- Power BI
- BusinessObjects Enterprise (BOE) reports
3. Oracle SQL / PL/SQL – 5+ Years
- 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and testing Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
- Strong understanding of Oracle databases and relational database concepts.
4. Informatica – 5+ Years
- 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and testing Informatica solutions, including Informatica mappings and ETL processes.
5. Data Warehouse Design & ETL
- Experience with:
- Data Warehouse design
- Reporting
- ETL concepts
- Data Warehouse architecture
- Dimensional modelling
- Development and deployment of Business Intelligence systems
6. SDLC / Agile
- Complete knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a Senior ETL / BI Developer with strong hands-on experience across Informatica, Oracle SQL/PLSQL, Crystal Reports, Power BI, BOE, Data Warehousing, ETL, and Business Intelligence.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate 5+ years of experience specifically in Data Warehousing/BI, Crystal Reports + Power BI + BOE, Oracle SQL/PLSQL, and Informatica. Strong SDLC/Agile experience, RDBMS knowledge, Data Warehouse architecture and dimensional modelling experience, and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders are essential.
