Position Overview
The Government of Nova Scotia – NS Housing Corporation is seeking a Clerk 1 / Receptionist (ADM02) to provide clerical and reception support at its 9 Church Street location in Truro, Nova Scotia.
This is a temporary backfill position required until the permanent vacancy is filled. The successful candidate will perform a variety of standardized clerical and reception duties under direct supervision, following established methods and procedures with a strong emphasis on accuracy and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist visitors and members of the public in a professional and courteous manner.
- Operate and manage the office switchboard and direct incoming calls appropriately.
- Receive, respond to, and route routine inquiries.
- Prepare, format, organize, and file correspondence and other office documentation.
- Maintain accurate and organized paper and electronic files.
- Perform general clerical and administrative tasks in accordance with established procedures.
- Order and maintain supplies for various office equipment and administrative needs.
- Receive, sort, distribute, and deliver inter-office mail.
- Assist with routine office coordination and administrative activities.
- Maintain accuracy and attention to detail when completing assigned clerical work.
- Follow established policies, procedures, and instructions while working under direct supervision.
- Provide professional service to internal staff, visitors, and members of the public.
Requirements
Mandatory Qualifications / Requirements
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Grade XI education plus related experience, OR
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Related experience performing clerical and/or receptionist duties.
- Ability to perform standardized clerical tasks according to established methods and procedures.
- Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to greet and interact professionally with the public.
- Ability to perform duties involving switchboard/telephone operations.
- Experience with preparing and filing correspondence and office documentation.
- Ability to handle office supplies and routine administrative requirements.
- Ability to manage and distribute inter-office mail.
- Ability to work effectively under direct supervision and follow established procedures.
