Our client is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer – Quoting Specialist to join their growing manufacturing team in North York, ON.

Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer – Quoting Specialist will play a key role in the quoting process, analyzing customer 3D models, CAD drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to identify cost drivers, manufacturing risks, and opportunities for design improvement.
This position works closely with Engineering, Sales, Purchasing, and Production to ensure quotes are accurate, competitive, and technically sound.
Key Responsibilities
- Review 3D CAD models, 2D engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements.
- Evaluate designs for manufacturability across CNC machining, sheet metal, welding, and mechanical assembly.
- Identify potential manufacturing issues such as tight tolerances, thin walls, deep pockets, bend-radius concerns, and clearance/interference issues.
- Develop manufacturing processes, routings, setup times, run times, tooling requirements, and outside processing costs.
- Prepare DFM feedback and recommend design changes to improve cost and lead times.
- Review multi-level BOMs and support material, hardware, and outside-service cost estimates.
- Work with Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineers, and Production teams to improve quoting accuracy.
- Compare estimated versus actual production times and continuously improve quoting standards.
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, estimating, or technical quoting.
- Strong knowledge of CNC milling/turning, sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, welding, and mechanical assembly.
- Proficiency with CAD software; SolidWorks experience is preferred.
- Strong blueprint reading and knowledge of ASME / GD&T.
- Strong analytical and attention-to-detail skills.
- Understanding of labour rates, machine rates, material costs, overhead, margins, and outside processing.
- Experience in a precision manufacturing or contract manufacturing environment is preferred.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience in a high-mix, quick-turn job-shop environment.
- Familiarity with quoting software or ERP systems such as Paperless Parts, ProShop, or JobBOSS.
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or equivalent technical experience.
