About the Opportunity:
Our client is seeking a Junior Accountant to join their team on an initial 3-month contract basis. Following a recent acquisition, the organization requires additional hands-on accounting support to assist with high-volume transactional data entry, reconciliations and general accounting clean-up activities.
Reporting to the senior accounting team, this position will also provide support during the company's upcoming year-end and transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
This is an excellent opportunity for a junior accounting professional who enjoys working with numbers, has strong attention to detail and is comfortable handling a high volume of transactions in a busy environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform high-volume accounting data entry, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.
• Assist with bank and credit card reconciliations, including reviewing and resolving outstanding transactions.
• Support day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including accounts payable and accounts receivable entries.
• Assist with general ledger maintenance, journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Support accounting clean-up activities and transaction processing following a recent acquisition.
• Assist the accounting team with year-end preparation and related accounting activities.
• Provide data entry and accounting support during the transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Liaise with internal teams to obtain supporting documentation and resolve transaction discrepancies.
• Perform additional ad hoc accounting and administrative duties as required.
Qualifications:
• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 1 year of accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable or accounts receivable experience.
• Sound understanding of basic accounting principles, including debits, credits, journal entries and bank reconciliations.
• Strong data entry skills with excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is considered a strong asset.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage high volumes of transactions and meet deadlines.
• Reliable, adaptable and comfortable working in a hands-on, transactional accounting environment.
