Learn more here: https://torpropgroup.ca/ Position Summary: The Intermediate Accountant is responsible for full-cycle accounting for multiple entities across construction, property management, and independent living for seniors in Alberta and British Columbia.

The role supports accurate financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, audit requirements, and continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls.

Compensation Range: $65,000-$70,000 annually, depending on experience.

The following job responsibilities are essential for the success of this position: Full-Cycle Accounting & Financial Reporting Manage full-cycle accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, intercompany reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and month-end and year-end closing processes.

Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, allocations, and other period-end adjustments.

Maintain supporting schedules and reconcile general ledger accounts.

Internal Controls & Collaboration Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Support improvements to accounting processes, reporting, systems, and workflow efficiency.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to coordinate financial matters effectively.

Stay current with industry best practices, accounting regulations, and emerging trends.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Compliance, Tax & Audit Support Ensure compliance with applicable accounting principles, standards, regulations, and bank compliance reporting requirements.

Prepare and file GST/HST/PST returns and other required regulatory filings.

Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other professionals as required.

Prepare audit working papers and supporting documentation.

Financial Analysis, Budgeting & Forecasting Conduct financial and variance analysis and forecasting to support decision-making and planning.

Review financial data to identify trends, anomalies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

Participate in the annual budget and forecasting process, providing insights and recommendations.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree focused on Accounting, Finance, or a related field is considered an asset.

Minimum three years of progressive accounting experience in a similar role.

Proven experience with full-cycle accounting and financial reporting.

Experience in property management, construction, or senior living is considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience: Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills.

Experience with Business Central is preferred.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.

Ability to work effectively in a team and independently without significant supervision.

Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
