Position Title: Senior Finance Manager
Salary & Benefits: $100,000 - $105,000 (Benefits and DB Pension plan)

The Senior Manager, Finance plays a critical leadership role in supporting the Senior Director, Finance by overseeing the day‑to‑day operations of the Regional or National Finance department. This position provides strategic and operational guidance to Finance Managers, Financial Analysts, and Finance Clerks, ensuring high‑quality financial reporting, disciplined budgeting processes, and strong analytical support to operational sites and corporate services departments. The Senior Manager, Finance champions continuous improvement, fosters a positive and accountable team culture, and upholds organizational standards in financial governance, compliance, and performance management.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development
- Hire and onboard new finance staff; ensure all team members receive annual PDPs and ongoing professional development support.
- Coach, advise, motivate, and lead staff to maintain a positive, high‑performance workplace.
- Promote consistent approaches to orientation, learning, recognition, and performance management across districts.
- Provide leadership in both unionized and non‑unionized environments, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and values.
- Ensure mechanisms are in place for staff to receive organizational updates and provide feedback.
Financial Operations & Reporting
- Oversee general accounting and financial reporting activities.
- Lead the preparation of monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established timelines.
- Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled, analyzed, and supported with appropriate audit evidence.
- Prepare annual audit templates and lead the completion of audit requirements within defined timelines; respond to auditor inquiries.
- Ensure payroll vacation, stat, comp, and flex banks reconcile accurately to general ledger liabilities.
- Ensure T3010 filings are completed for applicable Community Corporations.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
- Lead the preparation of operational budgets, supporting Site Operations, Finance Managers, and Corporate Services departments.
- Provide financial support to operational sites and corporate services teams, including complex financial analysis to inform decision‑making.
- Participate in quarterly forecasting processes and provide guidance to Corporate Services departments.
Process Improvement & Systems
- Introduce and implement process changes related to ongoing improvement initiatives or system updates.
- Participate in project teams and committees, including SAP working groups and priority organizational projects.
- Promote the use of technology‑based systems for knowledge capture, transformation, and distribution.
Stakeholder Support & Collaboration
- Attend finance meetings to support operational and corporate teams in reviewing financial results and understanding variances.
- Promote the organization's strategy and role as an integrated community care provider to staff and stakeholders.
Compliance, Safety & Organizational Standards
- Lead and support client and family engagement initiatives and adherence to Accreditation Canada Standards.
- Review safety‑related KPIs, ensure investigations occur when required, and support action plans to address issues.
- Uphold confidentiality and personal information protection policies and ensure safeguards are in place across the region.
- Foster work/life balance and professional excellence within the team.
The ideal candidate is an experienced finance leader with 10+ years of progressive experience in complex, multi‑site environments, ideally within the nonprofit or public sector. You will hold a CPA designation and bring a deep understanding of government funding models, external reporting requirements, and audit processes. With strong analytical capabilities and advanced technical proficiency in Excel, and emerging ERP platforms, you are adept at navigating system transitions—such as the move from SAP to Oracle—and contributing meaningfully to project teams. The successful person excels at relationship management, communicating effectively with senior leadership, and shifting finance teams from task‑based execution to value‑added partnership. You will demonstrate strong organizational skills, a commitment to meeting deadlines, openness to change, and the ability to support operations as internal clients across multiple regional sites. A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required, and French language ability is considered an asset in designated areas
