About the Opportunity

• Entity Ownership – Full-Cycle Accounting (Core Responsibility)
  • Own the full-cycle books for the operating businesses the Family Office manages, alongside its corporations, trusts, and personal accounts (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, QBO, Excel).
  • Prepare bank reconciliations across personal, corporate, trust, and partnership accounts.
  • Record multi-currency investment transactions (bonds, stocks, limited partnerships, real estate, yacht), including foreign exchange on USD/Euro/GBP transactions.
  • Prepare month-end and year-end entries and maintain the supporting schedules behind each entity's balances.
• Analysis & Financial Modeling (Growth Area)
  • Participate in financial modeling and scenario analysis for investments, business ventures, and projects undertaken by the Family Office (e.g., real estate, yacht operations, and new ventures as they develop).
  • Analyze reconciliations and account activity across entities to identify trends, variances, and anomalies, and bring findings forward rather than simply clearing them.
  • Assist in building and maintaining financial models and analysis that support decision-making as new projects arise, working directly with the Director of Finance and Family Office Advisors.
  • Present findings in clean, well-structured tables, charts, and brief written summaries.
• Year-End, Tax & External Advisors (Annual Cycle)
  • Prepare year-end working paper files in Excel for each entity.
  • Compile documentation for personal and corporate tax returns.
  • Liaise with external accountants and tax advisors through the year-end process.
  • Assist with HST/GST filings and other government remittances.
• Payments, Records & Stakeholder Coordination (Operational Foundation)
  • Prepare and record payable invoices and payment entries and prepare payments for approval.
  • Obtain and organize supporting documents from stakeholders – the Executive Assistant, the yacht crew and management company, and other parties across the corporations – following up persistently and tactfully.
  • Maintain a consistent, well-organized electronic filing system across all entities, so every payment and entry carries a complete audit trail.

About You

• Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field; a strong academic record is a positive signal of analytical ability.
• 2–4 years of full-cycle accounting experience. Experience in a public accounting firm is a plus
• Exposure to multiple related entities, holding company structures, or consolidated reporting is strongly preferred. Exposure to investment entities, trusts, or a family office is a further asset.
• Exposure to financial modeling, valuation, or business case analysis is a strong asset — this role builds and uses Excel models, not just historical books.
• Progress toward or recent completion of a CPA designation is an asset and preferred.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills - able to interpret financial data across multiple entities, identify trends and anomalies, and bring recommendations forward, not just record transactions accurately.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Confidentiality and discretion are essential.
• Exceptionally organized, with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
• A genuine learning and continuous-improvement mindset - motivated to understand why a process works, question it, and try to make it better.
• Willingness and aptitude to learn investment accounting and tax preparation; prior exposure is an asset, not a requirement.
• Advanced Excel skills, including Power Query and financial model building, support new business and investment decisions — not just data entry; proficient across Microsoft Office.
• Comfortable using or learning to use AI tools to streamline day-to-day accounting work, with sound judgment about when to rely on them.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and QBO is an asset.

Salary Range

$100,000 - $120,000 / year
