Adecco is currently hiring a full-time Car Mechanic Apprentice (Freight Car Repairer) to join a dynamic rail operations team. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, building, and repairing railway freight cars and equipment in accordance with federal regulations and company standards. This position offers a structured path toward becoming a fully qualified Journey Car Mechanic through paid training and apprenticeship opportunities.

Responsibilities:
Inspect rail cars and components in accordance with railroad association standards and federal regulations
Perform preventive, scheduled, and on-demand maintenance and repairs on freight cars and systems
Repair and install components such as air valves, compressors, bearings, couplings, cylinders, and piping
Maintain underframes, structures, safety appliances, and draft systems
Use tools including hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and cutting torches
Operate equipment such as cranes, trucks, and shop machinery
Complete inspection reports, maintenance logs, and documentation accurately
Work safely and efficiently while meeting quality and performance standards
Qualifications and Skills:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Must be 18 years of age or older
Valid Driver's License
Ability to meet medical fitness and safety requirements
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to identify wear and defects in parts
Basic computer skills
Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing conditions
Previous welding experience
Vocational or technical training in mechanical or rail operations
Familiarity with railroad operating rules
Experience using electrical or electronic tools
Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
Working Conditions
Work in both indoor and outdoor environments in various weather conditions
Perform physically demanding tasks including lifting (up to 50 lbs regularly, 85 lbs occasionally), bending, kneeling, and climbing
Work night shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
May be required to travel or work away from assigned terminal
Requires strong hand-eye coordination and physical stamina
