Project Manager, Water/Wastewater Infrastructure

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Project Manager on behalf of an established general contractor delivering complex civil and infrastructure projects throughout British Columbia.

This opportunity is well suited to an experienced Project Manager who enjoys taking ownership of projects and working within a collaborative, hands-on project team. The successful candidate will provide overall direction and coordination of assigned projects, managing costs, schedule, subcontractors, risk and stakeholder relationships while working closely with site leadership.

The position is based in the Greater Vancouver area, with projects primarily located throughout the Lower Mainland.

What You'll Be Doing

• Provide overall direction, administration and coordination of assigned construction projects.
• Develop and manage project budgets, cost codes, forecasts and financial reporting.
• Develop project schedules alongside the Project Superintendent and proactively manage schedule risks and priorities.
• Establish scopes of work and coordinate subcontractor and supplier procurement.
• Manage subcontractor and supplier contracts, payment applications and commercial matters.
• Work closely with the Superintendent to plan and coordinate construction activities.
• Attend project meetings and maintain strong relationships with owners, consultants, municipalities and other stakeholders.
• Monitor project costs, schedule and overall performance throughout delivery.
• Identify potential changes, additional work and commercial risks and manage them appropriately.
• Proactively identify and resolve project issues before they impact cost or schedule.
• Lead and support Project Coordinators, Project Engineers and other members of the project team.
• Manage projects through construction, completion and closeout.

What We're Looking For

• Approximately 8–10+ years of construction experience, ideally within heavy civil or infrastructure.
• Previous Project Management experience with a general contractor.
• Strong heavy civil, infrastructure and/or complex ICI project experience.
• Water/wastewater or municipal infrastructure experience would be a strong asset.
• Experience working with municipalities, public owners, consultants and multiple project stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of project budgeting, cost control, forecasting and scheduling.
• Experience with subcontractor procurement, scopes of work and commercial management.
• Experience delivering lump-sum projects.
• Ability to independently manage projects and take ownership of project delivery.
• Strong leadership, communication, client relationship and problem-solving skills.
• Gold Seal, CET, C.Tech. or P.Eng. designation/certification is an asset.
