Job Description

Main Responsibilities

• Help perform design tasks for projects such as pole line analysis (PLA) for telecommunication and electric utility poles
• Support the development of design and construction standards for various distribution and transmission applications
• Assist in the preparation of calculations, drawings, construction and work packages and other project base deliverables
• Assist in the preparation of technical inputs for reports, specifications, proposals, project schedules and cost estimates
• Communicate with client stakeholders for various aspects of the project, including regular communication about project progress
• Perform site visits to validate scope requirements and determine existing assets condition and prepare site survey reports
• Help ensure design work conforms to all applicable national codes and client standards
• Utilize client based geographic information systems (GIS) and other records for data collection during the design process; produce bill of material and enter material acquisition requests in the GIS
• Coordinate with utility companies, all levels of government agencies, municipalities, and other companies and institutions
• Perform and assist with additional duties and tasks based on project requirements and other job functions as assigned

Qualifications

Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or civil engineering, from a recognized institution
• Experience with AutoCAD (asset)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure, independently and in a team setting
• Client focused, detail oriented, eager to learn and motivated with strong problem solving and multitasking ability
• Excellent skills with the Microsoft 365 platform (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
• Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driving license or equivalent from another province is required
• Experience with electric utility distribution or transmission standards (asset)
• Experience working with PLS-CADD, SPIDAcalc, Pull Planner, CYME or other utility software (asset)
• Working knowledge of a GIS (Graphical Information System) such as ArcGIS, GE SmallWorld, or similar (asset)

The salary for this position ranges from $24.65 to $31.05 per hour, depending on your academic profile, the number of credits earned, and your previous co-op or internship experience. The final offer and salary may be adjusted based on your unique profile."
