Contract Family Support Worker

Your future starts now at Empower Simcoe!We are recruiting for a Family Support Worker to provide support to children with developmental challenges and their families; to promote the interests of the person with intellectual disabilities and his/her family in the community; to serve as a resource to families, professionals and the community in accordance with the stated goals of the agency. The candidate must be available to work one evening per week. This shift will have different hours than the candidate's regular scheduled shifts. This position has an hourly rate of $36.86. This is a one-year contract position with possible extension working at 30 hours per week.Minimum requirements of this position include:BSW or B.A. in Social Science with relevant experience;Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience;Understanding of child development and of the particular needs of persons with an intellectual disability and their families;Working knowledge of the CFSA;Valid G class driver's license and own reliable transportation to be used in the course of employment.Duties and responsibilities (including, but not limited to):Developing a collaborative relationship with families or caregivers assisting the family in the development of effective child management strategies;Working with the family to develop an Individual Family Service Plan (I.F.S.P.) to meet individual and family needs;Case management and referral to community resources as appropriate to all family members;Liaising with child/youth's school team to support child/youth and family with advocacy and achievement of identified goals;Provision of information, public education, training, consultation and support to agencies serving individuals with special needs.Empower Simcoe is a respectful, caring and inclusive workplace.
