I'm looking for a caring, reliable, and experienced dog walker/pet sitter for my dog Leo. I'm hoping to find someone who is interested in building an ongoing relationship with him, starting with regular walks and potentially providing care for him while I'm away from October 31 to November 7. Leo is a large, older Mastiff/Cane Corso-type dog. He's very loving with people and generally does well out in public, including around other dogs. He's naturally alert and protective, particularly at home and in the car, and does best with someone who is calm, confident, attentive, and comfortable handling a large, strong dog. I'd ideally like to start with regular walks so Leo can get to know the person and become comfortable with them before I travel. Depending on how things go, I'd then be looking for someone who could care for him during my trip. Vacation care would include feeding his regular food, providing fresh water, taking him out for bathroom breaks and walks, spending time with him, and maintaining his usual routine. Leo does best with a calm, predictable environment. At home, he can bark at activity outside, so keeping the blinds closed and having some background noise on when he's alone are important parts of his routine. Leo is an intact male, which is important to keep in mind for boarding situations, particularly if there are other dogs in the home. For my October 31–November 7 trip, I'm open to either overnight care in my home or a reliable schedule of multiple visits throughout the day, including morning, evening, and a final late-night visit. I'm also open to boarding in the sitter's home if it's a good fit. I'm looking for someone with experience caring for large-breed or guardian-type dogs who understands the importance of patience, consistency, and safe handling.
