Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and Controller, the Senior Accountant plays a crucial role in managing the financial integrity and administration of the Diocese and its related entities. You will oversee day-to-day financial operations, provide stewardship over resources, and serve as a supportive financial partner to local parishes.

Responsibilities
- Financial Management & Reporting: Prepare monthly financial statements, variance reports, Finance Committee reports, and year-end consolidated parish statements.
- General Ledger & Reconciliations: Maintain the General Ledger (including accruals, postings, and journal entries), oversee sub-ledgers, and perform monthly bank and GL reconciliations.
- Budgeting & Compliance: Work alongside team leaders to build budgets, monitor spending, and complete Charity tax returns, GST returns, and charitable donation receipts
- Parish Liaison & Leadership: Provide guidance to parishes regarding accounting, policies, and charitable requirements while supervising assigned accounting clerks.
Qualifications
- CPA is preferred or close to completion
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within a not-for-profit or faith-based environment.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and standard accounting software.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment
