This role is dedicated to supporting a premier Canadian processor and distributor of snacks, nuts, confectionery, dried fruit, and bulk foods. As the exclusive and perpetual brand owner You will play a pivotal role in analyzing point-of-sale (POS) and inventory performance across their extensive product portfolio.
Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly analytical Data & Reporting Associate to join our Reporting & Analytics team on-site in the GTA. In this role, you will be responsible for pulling, extracting, organizing, and analyzing point-of-sale (POS) and market performance data across major Canadian retail portals and CPG data platforms.
You will perform hands-on data analysis on retail POS feeds tracking top SKUs, analyzing sales velocities, monitoring inventory levels, and evaluating regional and national sales trends. Working closely with senior analytics team leads, you will ensure seamless data ingestion and high-precision reporting across key account feeds.
Key Responsibilities
1. POS Data Analysis & SKU Performance Tracking
- Top SKU Tracking & Velocity Analysis: Monitor and analyze POS performance for Top 40 SKUs across product categories, tracking sales velocities, rate of sale, and distribution metrics.
- Sales Trends & Regional Analytics: Conduct data analysis on POS feeds to identify sales trends, seasonal demand spikes, and volume shifts across both regional and national retail banners.
- Inventory Tracking: Track store-level inventory levels, out-of-stocks, and weeks-on-hand metrics to support supply chain visibility and stock optimization across retail accounts.
2. Retail Portal Data Extraction & Maintenance
- Retail Portal Data Extraction: Access, query, and extract POS, inventory, and sales data across major Canadian retail portals, including Retail Link (Walmart), Loblaws Vendor Portal (Loblaws, Zehrs, No Frills, Fortinos, Shoppers Drug Mart), Sobeys/FreshCo, and Metro.
- Syndicated Data Ingestion: Retrieve, clean, and format CPG market measurement datasets from syndicated providers such as Nielsen (NielsenIQ) and Circana (IRI).
- Data Organization & Quality Control: Perform routine data reviews, audits, and validation checks to ensure zero discrepancies across incoming POS and inventory feeds.
3. Reporting & Data Analysis
- Excel & Pivot Table Reporting: Build and update structured Excel reports, pivot tables, and client summaries to track CPG category performance metrics and execution.
- SQL & Database Support: Query relational databases using SQL to pull structured datasets and support consolidated analytics pipelines.
- Document & Data Structuring: Extract and organize tabular data from PDF reports, flat files, and unstructured retail documents into standardized formats.
Qualifications & Skill Requirements
- Required Experience & Education
- Education: Bachelor's degree or diploma in Business, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, Commerce, or a related field experience
- Industry Experience: 1 to 2 years of experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), retail, or agency services industry.
Core Technical & Practical Skills
- POS & Retail Analytics: Demonstrated experience analyzing POS data, tracking sales velocity, monitoring inventory metrics, and identifying regional/national trends within CPG categories.
- Retail Portal Familiarity: Hands-on experience pulling and reviewing data from major Canadian retail portals (e.g., Walmart Retail Link, Loblaws/Shoppers Drug Mart vendor portals, Sobeys, Metro).
- Syndicated Data Experience: Familiarity with extracting and reviewing datasets from Nielsen (NielsenIQ) or Circana (IRI).
- Excel Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, complex pivot tables, and data formatting.
- SQL Foundations: Working knowledge of basic to intermediate SQL for data querying and table joins.
Work Environment & Mindset
- On-Site Requirement: Must be able to work full-time on-site at our Mississauga office location.
- High Attention to Detail: Rigorous accuracy in numerical calculations and CPG sales reporting.
- Process-Driven & Analytical: Methodical approach to routine weekly data pulls, inventory audits, and trend analysis.
