We're now looking for a Strategic Finance Analyst, based in either Denver, Colorado or Toronto, Ontario, to join our Finance team, combining rigorous FP&A with commercial analysis and a strong understanding of the data and systems behind the numbers.

Reporting to the VP of Finance, you'll work closely with Finance and RevOps across forecasting, profitability, pricing, gross margin and commissions, helping provide the insight that supports better planning and decision-making across the business.

The Role

Your initial focus will span three core areas: FP&A, pricing and gross margin analysis, and commission calculations.

You'll:

• Support annual budgets, rolling forecasts and budget-to-actual variance analysis
• Build financial models, scenarios and sensitivity analysis to support business decisions
• Analyse profitability and gross margin across products, segments and customer cohorts
• Support pricing strategy, annual price increases and new product analysis
• Contribute trusted datasets and analysis for Board and executive reporting
• Support accurate Sales, Partner and Operations commission calculations
• Investigate discrepancies and resolve underlying data issues
• Use SQL, BI and AI tools to strengthen analysis and automate recurring Finance processes
• Build and maintain dashboards and reporting views

As Actionstep evolves, so will the scope of the role, with opportunities to contribute to broader strategic initiatives including partnerships and M&A.

Data & Systems

Strong analysis depends on strong underlying data.

Working alongside our Senior Financial & Systems Analyst, you'll help improve the systems, processes and data infrastructure behind Finance's recurring reporting and analysis.

You'll help automate manual processes, improve dashboards and reporting, document business logic and identify data-quality issues at source, creating reliable, repeatable and scalable financial analysis the business can trust.

About You

You're a strong finance analyst with a natural curiosity about the business behind the numbers.

You enjoy getting into the detail, but you're equally interested in what your analysis means and how it can influence a decision. You're comfortable balancing recurring, deadline-driven responsibilities with more open-ended analytical work and take real ownership of accuracy.

You'll bring:

• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field
• 1–3 years' experience within Financial Analysis, FP&A, Accounting or Business Analysis
• Advanced Excel skills and strong financial modelling capability
• Working knowledge of SQL, with the curiosity to develop further
• Experience working with financial or ERP systems
• Confidence working with large and sometimes imperfect datasets
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• The ability to communicate financial information clearly to financial and non-financial audiences
• Strong personal accountability for accuracy and quality

Experience within a SaaS or subscription-based business would be particularly valuable.

Exposure to NetSuite, Snowflake, Power BI or similar ERP, data warehouse or BI platforms would also be advantageous, as would experience with sales commissions, pricing or gross margin analysis.

Your analysis is trusted and used by Finance leadership and cross-functional teams.

You build strong relationships across Finance, Sales, RevOps, Partner and Operations by being responsive, clear and commercially aware.

And as your capability grows, so does your scope.

Within 12–18 months, the aim is for you to take on broader financial planning and strategic analysis responsibilities.
