Below are additional details about what is offered at the Peterborough location:40 multi-slide proprietary zinc die casting machines ranging from 12 to 21 tonsFive multi-slide proprietary zinc die casting machines ranging from 70 to 200 tonsInjected Metal Assembly (IMA) up to one tonPrecision tool building with in-house capabilitiesDesign, prototyping, and modeling servicesWide range of finishing surfaces available including tumbling, polishing, shot blasting and thermal de-burringCosmetic or protective coating equipment either through certified suppliers or in-houseWide range of secondary operations including CNC machining, tapping, reaming, and drillingPosition Summary:This position applies technical knowledge and expertise in the development and implementation of new and improved manufacturing processes, procedures and equipment.Key Duties & Responsibilities:Develop/improve manufacturing processes by studying product requirements and then researching, designing, specifying, modifying and testing manufacturing methods and equipment;Perform and document machine/tool capability studies;Ensure that machine settings and programs are adhered to during production as per quoted cycle times and set-up sheets and perform a root cause analysis if they are not;Determine job production data, including production time and material consumption for each manufacturing area to identify, summarize and analyze trends;Initiate or otherwise support plant-wide continuous improvement initiatives;Assist with manufacturing efficiency improvement by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment layout;Provide support to engineering department on feasibility and prepare quotes for new and existing programs, when required;Conduct studies and implement programs to determine optimum utilization of materials, machinery and resources;Document and diagram processes and update/maintain SOP's. Perform time studies, if required;Achieve facility targets and standards in safety, quality, delivery and cost;Continuous improvement of process capability, process control and tooling performance;Recommend development and improvement opportunities for manufacturing equipment and processes;Investigate new and emerging technologies to improve quality and efficiency.Education & Experience Required:Degree or Diploma in Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering;Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment;Previous die cast/injection molding machine experience preferred.Skills & Knowledge Required:Advanced level mechanical aptitude skills;Able to work in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment, demonstrating excellent organizational and time-management skills;Knowledgeable in APQP and PFMEA documentation and processes;Able to read mechanical drawings;Intermediate to advanced level computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office programs.
