At Spark Lifecare, we do healthcare differently. We officially launched in Halifax, Nova Scotia in Summer of 2026, and we're excited to be building our local network of talented healthcare professionals to provide exceptional care to clients in the community.

Join our network of healthcare providers and be among the first to hear about new client referrals!

Our Purpose

At Spark, we're on a mission to make a difference in the way community healthcare is done. As a leading healthcare organization, we are dedicated to supporting our clients with the autonomy to steer their healthcare journey and equipping them with the necessary resources to take control of their health.

Spark is an innovative, award-winning, inclusive and equity focused organization that matches diverse clients to the best one to one care in the community. If you have a passion for helping people and wish to collaborate with a group of like-minded individuals who are committed, hardworking and dedicated, we invite you to become part of our network of healthcare providers!

Developmental Services Worker (DSW) - Complex Care

Our clients are remarkable individuals seeking individualized support at home and in the community. They may be living with developmental disabilities, complex medical needs, behavioural challenges, the impacts of trauma, or other circumstances that affect their daily functioning, independence, and participation in everyday life.

As a Developmental Services Worker (DSW) – Complex Care, you will provide one-to-one support based on each client's unique needs, abilities, goals, and care plan. Support may include:

  • Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal care and hygiene support as required.
  • Supporting client safety and wellbeing during home- and community-based activities.
  • Providing behavioural support, redirection, and assistance with emotional or behavioural regulation.
  • Supporting clients who may experience elopement or other safety-related concerns.
  • Engaging clients in meaningful and functional activities that encourage independence, skill development, and community participation.
  • Supporting routines, organization, meal preparation, transportation, emotional wellbeing, and other day-to-day needs.
  • Following individualized strategies and approaches established by the client's care team, family, or regulated healthcare professionals where applicable.

Every client and position is unique. Some clients may require primarily developmental and community-based support, while others may have more complex behavioural, personal care, medical, or safety needs. Your role is to meet each person where they are and provide respectful, consistent, and person-centred support that helps them participate as fully and independently as possible in their daily lives.

You would be a great fit with Spark if you are compassionate, dependable, organized, confident working independently, and comfortable adapting your approach to the needs of the individual you are supporting. Above all, we are looking for people who genuinely care about the wellbeing, dignity, safety, and goals of the people they support.

  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), CPI, or similar training
