We're looking for enthusiastic, motivated individuals to join our client’s team as a Business Controller in Toronto, ON!
In this full-time, temporary (12 month) role, you’ll help our client with their project-based needs.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide input to and implement Controlling & Budgeting plans and programs aligned to manage the function of preparing budgets, financial reports, and forecasts
- Business partner to local management empowering the businesses to gain control of their financial performance and value impact while achieving the targets and strategic objectives
- Prepare, develop, and formulate all local policies and processes related to direct and indirect costs, actual vs. budgeted and cost variance analysis
- Work closely with Region/Global Controlling Function to provide a high-quality data/ timely framework, as well as the reliable measurement of selected key KPI’s
- Review monthly performance and identify areas of risk to achievement of targets and forecasts and develop/follow up action plans
- Prepare Controlling & Budgeting plans and policies to translate current/ future business needs and challenges into effective functional plans
- Prioritize and coordinate transformation and change of Controlling & Budgeting policies and processes if required
- Understand and analyze ongoing budgeting and controlling processes like revenue/expense budgets, direct and indirect costs, actual vs. budgeted and cost variance analysis identifying any need for improvement and implementing programs and policies that better suit the needs of the business
- Work closely with Key Account Managers on Trade Spend Management, including forecast, actual customer deductions/chargeback and optimization of spend
- Guide and consult employees in Controlling & Budgeting related matters with focus on operational activities
- Establish and maintain potential relationship with all stakeholders within and outside the organization including outsourcing partner
What We’re Looking For:
- 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Finance and Accounting
- CPA/CGA/CMA/CA designation preferred
- 5+ years relevant experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as a demonstrated ability to analyze data and solve problems independently
- Demonstrate knowledge of accounting procedures, policies, and systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with ability to meet deadlines
- Strong investigative, data interpretation/manipulation
- Ability to work in a team environment, but also able to work independently with minimum supervision
- Ability to interact effectively with internal staff and external customers and possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
- Computer Skills: Advanced level skills using Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
- Oracle software skills (or similar ERP system) a strong asset
Details:
• Pay Rate: $50-$60/hour
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Hybrid- 3 days per week in office, switching to 4 days in Jan 2027)
