DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES2755 Highway 43, Kemptville, Ontario K0G 1J0phone: 613-258-7757 toll free: 1-800-443-4562 September 16, 2026VACANCYOECTA - 9434Position: Indigenous Education Consultant, Western Region – Permanent TermLocation: Kemptville Board OfficeSalary: As per Collective Agreement FTE: 1.00Effective: October 1, 2026 – June 28, 2027Note:This position keeps the consultant-level responsibilities while clearly incorporating Indigenous Graduation Coach elements, the Western Region focus, and board-wide support.Expertise:Indigenous Education K to 12 with a particular emphasis on Literacy/Numeracy and Catholic Curriculum.Summary:Under the supervision of the Superintendent of Education and in collaboration with the Principal of Indigenous Education, the Consultant will:• Promote and support Indigenous Education by advancing the Ontario Ministry of Education priorities related to Indigenous student achievement and well-being; • Provide individual and group mentoring to Indigenous students, monitor progress, support transitions, and help students identify pathways to graduation, post-secondary education, apprenticeships, training, and employment;• Develop proposals and coordinate activities to enhance Indigenous Education in all CDSBEO schools;• Provide job-embedded professional development support for teachers in Indigenous Education, culturally responsive pedagogy, literacy, numeracy, assessment and evaluation, learning strategies, and curriculum implementation;• Liaise with various CDSBEO Departments, (Student Success, Special Education, Curriculum, Religious and Family Life Education and Equity and Inclusion, and Continuing Education Departments) on various initiatives;• Act as the Board's liaison with the CDSBEO Indigenous Education Council, Indigenous students, families, school staff, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Indigenous communities, and community partners to strengthen relationships and support student success;• Assist with the delivery of professional development programs within the Curriculum Department's mandate and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action;• Establish and facilitate Indigenous student culture groups, leadership opportunities, and culturally affirming spaces that foster student voice, belonging, identity, engagement, achievement, and well-being;• Travel to various CDSBEO schools to support various student programs;• Other duties as assigned.Qualifications: • Valid Ontario College of Teachers Certificate • Qualifications in Primary or Junior and Intermediate or Senior Divisions • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, instructional leadership, and organizational and time management skills • Knowledge of current Ministry initiatives on Indigenous Education • Extensive knowledge of instructional assessment, evaluation and reporting practices in alignment with the Institute for Catholic Education and the Ontario Ministry of Education, and Board directives • Demonstrated effective leadership and experience in working with board and school teams and expertise in the planning and delivery of teacher professional development• Experience teaching in both elementary and secondary school would be considered an asset • First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples: Understanding Traditional Teachings, Histories, Current Issues and Cultures Part 1 and Religious Education Part 1 is recommended • Experience working with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students, families, communities, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers is recommendedSend application, including Certificate of Qualifications and resume as follows:Permanent applicants, please email application to: Occasional teacher/external applicants please visit: Applications received by fax, mail, or emailed directly to individual Human Resources staffwill not be processed.Posting closes at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday September 23, 2026.We thank all applicants in advance for their interest; however, only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.The CDSBEO adheres to equitable hiring, employment and promotion practices and is committed to an inclusive workforce.
