Background: Flemingdon Health Centre (FHC) is a registered charity and not-for-profit Community Health Centre serving Flemingdon Park, Fairview, and Thorncliffe Park. Across three sites, FHC provides health-related services grounded in the social determinants of health, community engagement, equity, inclusion, accountability, excellence, collaboration, and partnerships.
Position Summary:The Youth Peer Workers will be responsible for community engagement and supporting outreach initiatives for youth within the Flemingdon Park and Thorncliffe Park communities.
Responsibilities include:· Conduct outreach in spaces where youth in the Flemingdon Park and Thorncliffe Park community congregate · Connect youth to support systems in their own community· Aid youth in improving their social skills and become more involved in leisure and recreational activities as well as connect them to faith-based institutions and cultural activities and organizations · Facilitate activities, workshops, and programs including life skills to youth and partners· Conduct outreach, influence policy, and participate in community level committees/forums to represent youth’s perspectives · Collaborate with community partners and stakeholders· All other associated tasks as determined by the project coordinator and partner agency staff· Successful applicants will be expected to work closely with youth of the Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park communities, thus close knowledge of these communities is desired Skills and Qualifications:
