Health & Safety Coordinator

MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking a Health & Safety Coordinator to join our client: a leading manufacturer of custom-designed heat transfer equipment serving the Oil & Gas and Utilities industries across Western Canada. Their operations include the fabrication of complex industrial equipment within a large-scale welding and heavy fabrication environment.

This is a hands-on safety role for a professional who is comfortable working directly with tradespeople and spending time on the shop floor. Reporting to the Material & Safety Manager, the Health & Safety Coordinator will support the organization's safety program across compliance, inspections, incident investigations, training, documentation and COR requirements. Responsibilities

• Maintain corporate safety compliance platforms including ISN, ComplyWorks and Avetta
• Compile, track and monitor safety statistics
• Review and maintain the Corporate Safety Manual
• Review and update Safe Work Procedures and Hazard Assessments
• Chair and maintain Health & Safety Committee meetings
• Prepare and distribute monthly safety meeting topics
• Conduct incident investigations and prepare documentation for management review
• Coordinate and support the annual COR Audit
• Monitor WCB claims correspondence and assist with follow-up
• Complete new hire and subcontractor orientations, including required documentation
• Maintain employee training records and coordinate required training
• Maintain organized safety documentation and records
• Conduct routine shop-floor safety walks and inspections
• Ensure monthly shop and office inspections are completed
• Finalize and distribute inspection documentation
• Support additional safety initiatives and duties as required

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of dedicated Health & Safety experience
• Direct experience working within a welding, heavy fabrication, manufacturing or heavy industrial shop-floor environment
• Strong working knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health & Safety legislation, including the OHS Act, Regulation and Code
• Active NCSO designation or an OHS Certificate/Diploma is highly preferred
• Experience with COR audits and safety program administration
• Strong understanding of hazard assessments, safe work procedures and incident investigations
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust and gain buy-in from tradespeople
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities
• Strong computer skills
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
