Job description

At Schneider Electric, sustainability is embedded in how we design products, make decisions, and shape the future of energy. Within our Home Energy team, we are building an integrated portfolio of residential energy solutions, including solar inverters, battery storage systems, EV chargers, smart electrical panels, outlets, and lighting solutions, connected through IoT technologies. As our portfolio grows and our development programs become increasingly complex, we are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer who can help bring structure, technical direction, and system-level perspective to the team. In this highly hands-on role, you will work across hardware, firmware, cloud software, integration, and verification and validation to turn complex system challenges into clear and actionable solutions. You will progressively take technical ownership of projects, guide multidisciplinary contributors, and help move products from early development through validation and commercial launch. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys remaining close to the technology while also helping others align, make informed trade-offs, and deliver as a team. What you'll be doing Take technical ownership of assigned projects and help guide them from early development through system integration, validation, and commercial launch. Shape system architectures and translate complex technical challenges into clear requirements, practical work packages, and actionable plans. Remain closely involved in the technical work, including system integration, verification and validation, troubleshooting, and the resolution of complex system-level issues. Guide multidisciplinary contributors across hardware, firmware, cloud software, validation, compliance, manufacturing, and product management, without formal direct-reporting responsibility. Anticipate technical challenges, evaluate possible solutions, and present clear recommendations based on performance, quality, cost, risk, and schedule considerations. Help plan and prioritize systems engineering activities, clarify responsibilities, and maintain alignment across teams as projects evolve. Ensure system requirements, architecture decisions, test activities, and validation results remain connected throughout the product development lifecycle. Communicate technical progress, risks, decisions, and recommendations clearly to project stakeholders and engineering leadership. Contribute a fresh perspective to the team by identifying opportunities to improve products, processes, and technical approaches. What you'll bring A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, engineering physics, computer science, controls engineering, or a related technical discipline. 8 or more years of experience in systems engineering, multidisciplinary product development, or a related technical environment involving complex products or integrated systems. Experience contributing to several stages of the product development lifecycle, from requirements and development through system integration, verification, validation, or manufacturing readiness. Previous experience taking technical ownership of a project or significant scope of work, with the ability to guide contributors and move technical activities forward without direct reporting authority. Strong technical depth in 1 or more areas such as electronic hardware, firmware, embedded systems, cloud software, system integration, or verification and validation, combined with the ability to collaborate across disciplines. The ability to step back, understand the complete system, and break complex technical challenges into clear, manageable, and actionable work packages. A practical approach to problem-solving, including the ability to anticipate risks, evaluate trade-offs, and bring forward well-structured recommendations rather than simply identifying issues. Experience working with laboratory equipment and troubleshooting complex integrated systems. Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues, decisions, and trade-offs to multidisciplinary teams and project stakeholders. The ability and willingness to work primarily on site, including in a laboratory environment, based on project, integration, testing, and validation needs. You might also have Experience with power electronics, power conversion, battery systems, energy management, controls, or connected IoT products. Experience with residential energy solutions such as solar inverters, battery energy storage systems, EV chargers, smart electrical infrastructure, or energy management systems. Exposure to cloud-connected products, IoT platforms, APIs, or distributed control architectures. Familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, Modbus, or Ethernet, and with programming or scripting languages such as Python or C. Experience supporting compliance, regulatory certification, product reliability, safety, or manufacturing-readiness activities. Previous experience leading projects, mentoring or coaching engineers, or managing an engineering team. Experience in adjacent industries such as automotive, battery systems, embedded products, industrial automation, or other multidisciplinary product environments. We recognize that skills and competencies can be developed through a variety of experiences, both professional and personal.
