What Is the Opportunity?

RBC Capital Markets seeks a Futures Clearing Analyst to join our Global Futures Operations team. This role serves as a critical operational partner within our clearing function, ensuring accurate trade allocation, monitoring multiple global markets, and maintaining the automated workflows that support our institutional client base. The position demands precision, technical proficiency, and collaborative problem-solving across North American and European futures markets.

RBC Capital Markets operates as an institutional client relationship manager providing global market access in futures and cleared products. We serve institutional funds, house proprietary trading desks, and wealth management clients across multiple jurisdictions including Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Asia. Our clearing operations connect clients to exchanges and central counterparties worldwide, maintaining memberships with CME, ICE, Eurex, CDCC, Montreal Exchange, and numerous other venues through direct and intermediate relationships.

What Will You Do?

The Futures Clearing Analyst manages day-to-day trade allocation processes and investigates discrepancies that arise between execution, allocation, and clearing systems. You will monitor futures markets across North America and Europe, including FEC+, Montreal Exchange/CDCC, ICE FEC, CDS and ECS platforms. Your work ensures that client trades flow accurately from execution through to settlement, maintaining the integrity of our books and records in ION XTP and related middleware systems.

You will coordinate with global operations teams, front office sales and trading partners, and external clients to resolve allocation issues, optimize straight-through processing rates, and support clearing workflow enhancements. The role requires active participation in industry-related projects, system upgrades, and new business initiatives that expand our clearing capabilities or improve operational efficiency.

This position demands continuous collaboration across time zones, requiring clear communication with colleagues in Toronto, Halifax, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Malaysia. You will work closely with Client Services, Treasury, Reconciliations, and Futures Execution Management teams to maintain operational excellence across the trade lifecycle.

• Complete and accurate allocation of all top-day trades across monitored markets with minimal discrepancies

• Timely investigation and resolution of trade breaks, allocation mismatches, and system exceptions

• Maintenance of allocation automation rules and coordination with technology teams on enhancements

• Documentation of allocation processes, exception handling procedures, and system workflows

• Contribution to clearing team projects including exchange onboarding, system upgrades, and regulatory implementations

• Support for monthly balance sheet attestations and regulatory compliance activities within the clearing function

• Perform UAT for Vendor or exchange software or hardware upgrades, development, or technical process changes in coordination with the IT Team.

• Process position transfers, deliveries, margin calls with clearing house and brokers.

• Process option expiries – exercise and assignments, process GL entries to balance internal accounts.

What Do You Need to Succeed?

Must-have

• You bring advanced Excel skills, including proficiency with formulas, pivot tables, data manipulation, and analysis.

• Candidates with one or more years of experience in futures operations, clearing, or related financial services operations bring immediate value.

• Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, recognizing that allocation errors can create client impact, regulatory exposure, and settlement risk.

Nice-to-have

• Experience with ION XTP, ION SEALS, EA Trade, TDN, or similar middleware platforms is advantageous but not required.

• Completion of Canadian Securities Course, or Series 3 is an asset but not required.
