About CASA House You will be part of a team that provides individual, group and family therapy, social and life skills training, and on-site schooling in small classroom settings.

CASA House is a live-in program for teens who need support with significant mental health and/or addiction challenges.

Teens stay at CASA House for an average of four months.

Job Details Wage range: $40.28 to $53.03 per hour Primary location: Sherwood Park Union: In-scope Classification: Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse Status : Casual About the Role Reporting to the Program Manager or Program Supervisor, the Mental Health Nurse works collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to provide and coordinate services, including nursing assessments and care planning, medication administration, client education, telephone follow-up, health promotion, and assistance with therapy.

The Mental Health Nurse practices in accordance with the code of ethics and standards of practice established by their respective nursing colleges.

The Mental Health Nurse will: Complete appropriate physical and psychosocial nursing assessments to identify mental health concerns and current risk, incorporating objective findings such as laboratory and diagnostic results, specialist reports, patient history, medication reconciliation, physiological parameters, and medication side effects.

Integrate assessment and other data to establish appropriate short- and long-term goals and provide nursing interventions to promote, maintain and restore health.

Monitor, evaluate and modify the nursing care plan based on the effectiveness of interventions and/or changes in condition or environment, in collaboration with the patient and care team.

Provide information, instructions and relevant medication teaching to assist patients in understanding their clinical condition, ongoing care and management.

Assist with individual or group therapy and accurately document findings in the health record.

Liaise with other professionals to promote continuity of care and assist families with connecting to a primary care physician.

Provide nursing support to concurrently operating teams and programs across various settings and multiple sites.

Maintain information flows to leadership on issues that affect or may affect services to patients and the work environment.

Act as a resource and provide training to team members to support their professional development.

Participate regularly and constructively in program and clinical team meetings.

Provide preceptorship to students and interns as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and consensus-building skills.

Knowledge of family/group therapy, Health Information and Protection of Privacy Acts, professional ethics and standards of practice.

Respects and maintains confidentiality of personal and sensitive information.

Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records and similar information systems.

Applies theoretical knowledge and relevant research findings to daily nursing practice.

Identifies barriers, asks appropriate questions to understand fundamental drivers, and facilitates solutions.

Demonstrates analytical, problem-solving and evidence-based decision-making abilities.

Works autonomously, independently and collaboratively within a team; prioritizes work activities and achieves objectives.

Adapts to new or unexpected situations and demonstrates flexibility in interpersonal situations.

Appreciates an interdisciplinary approach to mental health illness and can collaborate across programs and services.

Communicates cooperatively and respectfully with all staff.

Demonstrates commitment to quality improvement and engages in continuous learning for personal and professional growth.

Qualifications and Experience A bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Must be a member in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta.

A minimum of two years of recent pediatric experience in an ambulatory care setting, including the care and management of children with mental health concerns.

Acute care experience in children’s mental health would be an asset.

Conditions of Employment A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check.

This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.

Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA) as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.

Working Conditions Va lid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
