ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Workland is offering a 3-month internship as a Back-End Web Developer, open to students currently enrolled in a recognized Computer Science program or equivalent. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity to contribute to the future of web development while gaining hands-on experience in microservices architecture within a dynamic, results-oriented team.

The internship can be credited toward your program of study, and students who perform well are welcome to return for a second internship term. This internship may be paid for students enrolled in a recognized credited program who are eligible for a government internship subsidy — compensation details are confirmed during the interview process.

JOB SUMMARY

Do you love writing code? As Back-End Web Developer, your job is to help Workland deliver an efficient, functional, and seamless experience for the end-user — powering the systems that make it all work behind the scenes. You will develop back-end systems, contribute to accessibility and security compliance, and monitor the status of servers. We need a motivated and driven programmer, ready to take on a variety of assignments — that's where you come in.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Programming Languages: Develop and maintain back-end code using PHP and the Laravel/Lumen framework.
• Databases & Caches: Obtain and store information through SQL; create, integrate, and manage databases; produce reporting, analytics, and statistics when necessary.
• Tooling: Use Docker for containerization, apply unit testing best practices, and manage code versioning through Git/GitLab.
• System Development: Build and maintain back-end systems that power a seamless, functional end-user experience.
• Compliance & Monitoring: Contribute to accessibility and security compliance, and monitor the status of servers.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Currently enrolled in a DEC, AEC, Certificate, or Bachelor's program in Computer Science or a related field, and eligible to take part in an internship program approved by the Ministry of Education.
• Some hands-on experience in web development.
• Excellent skills in writing high-quality, clean code.
• Working knowledge of PHP, Laravel/Lumen, SQL, Docker, and Git/GitLab is an asset.
