Location: This position may be based in any SGI office location in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta, or Ontario, subject to workspace availability.

Work Arrangement: We offer flexible work arrangements, including in-office, hybrid, and remote options. Work arrangements eligibility will be discussed during the recruitment process and confirmed based on business and operational needs.

Pay Range: $99,155.00 - $132,187.00

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the planning, design, delivery, evaluation, maintenance, and oversight of broker education across SGI CANADA. In this role you will work collaboratively with regional representation and partners to understand broker needs, bring forward the voice of the broker, and ensure broker education programs, materials, and learning initiatives reflect broker operational realities, business priorities, and change impacts. You will manage broker education planning, coordination, and continuous improvement activities to support broker readiness, understanding, confidence, and experience across the broker distribution network.

Key Accountabilities:

Broker Education Design, Delivery & Quality

  • Leads the research, design, development, and delivery of broker education programs, materials, and learning approaches that reflect broker workflows, operational realities, authority levels, and business needs.

  • Collaborates with internal partners, subject matter experts, and external providers to develop accurate, practical, and aligned broker education content and delivery methods.

  • Manages broker education activities and deliverables to support consistent, high-quality service, communication, and learning outcomes.

  • Ensures broker education materials and messaging are clear, current, consistent, and aligned with business intent, SGI requirements, and broker needs.

  • Monitors broker education content for duplication, gaps, outdated information, and inconsistencies that may create confusion or rework.

  • Guides content and delivery improvements to support broker understanding, readiness, confidence, and effective adoption of change.

  • Supports the planning, vetting, and coordination of broker learning opportunities with industry associations and key business partners, including convention speakers, education sessions, and broker-hosted training initiatives, ensuring content is relevant, practical, aligned, and supportive of the broker experience.

Broker Education Evaluation, Prioritization & Insight

  • Maintains and monitors broker education materials, tools, inventories, resources, and SGI CANADA/external offerings to ensure they remain current, accessible, accurate, and aligned with SGI CANADA products, systems, processes, and requirements.

  • Leads a consistent approach to broker education feedback, evaluation, and effectiveness tracking, including surveys, broker input, partner feedback, reporting, and other data sources.

  • Acts as the broker education subject matter expert by qualifying and quantifying internal requests, issues, and improvement opportunities; challenging assumptions where appropriate; and providing evidence-based guidance on whether action, deferral, redirection, monitoring, or no action is warranted.

  • Assesses priorities based on broker impact, business need, operational risk, timing, available resources, and alignment to SGI CANADA priorities.

  • Provides informed recommendations with clear rationale, including the appropriate path forward, trade-offs, and next steps.

  • Supports practical improvements to content, tools, and delivery approaches to strengthen usability, consistency, efficiency, and broker experience.

  • Communicates insights and recommendations so partners and leaders understand broker impacts, risks, trade-offs, and the recommended path forward.

Broker Education Governance, Implementation & Portfolio Oversight

  • Supports the implementation and ongoing refinement of the broker education governance model, including intake, prioritization, ownership, review cycles, standards, reporting, escalation, and alignment with the Corporate Technical Training (CTT) model.

  • Applies established governance processes to manage broker education requests, priorities, deliverables, timelines, risks, dependencies, and team capacity.

  • Maintains portfolio visibility by tracking broker education work, status, risks, dependencies, resource impacts, and priority changes.

  • Translates broker education priorities into actionable plans and directs the team’s work to support broker readiness, understanding, adoption, confidence, and experience.

  • Represents broker education and the voice of the broker in management-level planning and governance discussions, identifying impacts to broker workflows, handoffs, authority levels, timing, and day-to-day business operations, and escalating matters requiring Director-level decision or alignment.

  • Identifies concerns, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs early in planning, procurement, and delivery cycles, and escalates issues that may affect broker understanding, adoption, or experience.

  • Ensures broker education materials have clear ownership, appropriate review cycles, version control, and timely update processes.

  • Provides operational insight and recommendations to support continuous improvement of the broker education governance model, standards, tools, and portfolio practices.

Relationship Management

  • Manages external vendor relationships including routine contracts escalating complex service issues to Director.

  • Ensures externally sourced training aligns with brand in all aspects including key messaging.

  • Liaises with regional broker association contacts and strategic national broker learning & development departments to proactively seek out training opportunities, align with brokers’ priorities and support learning programs and events.

  • Navigates diverse stakeholder needs and perspectives, including brokers, underwriting, billing, claims, business development, and other partners, to support practical and balanced outcomes.

  • Leads discussions, supports alignment, and resolves issues constructively to enable effective outcomes.

People Leadership

  • Builds a higher performing workforce by actively leading human resource activities.

  • Ensures development of divisional succession plans. Provide necessary resources including direct facilitation of ‘train the trainer’.

  • Builds a culture of leadership and accountability to effectively deliver on strategic and corporate strategies, ensuring integration with employee performance development and career development plans.

  • Drives performance through team members and is committed to leadership development across the company, supporting employees and workforce readiness through mentoring, training and developmental opportunities.

Corporate Management

  • Ensures programs and policies are in alignment with corporate, strategic and divisional strategies.

  • Manages risk in area of authority.

  • Prepares, reviews, manages and/or approves departmental/divisional budgets.

  • Prepares decision requests, decision and/or information items and/or SGI board items.

  • Ensures that the Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility, including development, implementation and managing of program components specific to departmental health and safety requirements.

  • Makes decisions for departmental operations that are efficient, effective and in alignment with strategic direction and priorities.

  • Ensures department and program policies, procedures and guidelines are in compliance with applicable federal and provincial legislation and regulations; implements and evaluates changes to legislation and regulations in area of authority.

  • Establishes and maintains an effective system of internal controls to support reliable financial reporting and compliance in accordance with applicable laws and regulations within the span of control and communicates the importance of internal controls to staff.

Education and Experience

  • Four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study such as Business or Training/Education.

  • A Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) designation.

  • Eight years’ experience comprised of four years leadership with progressively challenging responsibility and four years’ experience in Property and Casualty (P&C) brokerage operations and carrier relations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of program development (needs analysis, design, delivery, evaluation, routine contract negotiation and program budgeting).

  • Knowledge of adult education principles (needs assessment, program design, development, implementation, evaluation).

  • Knowledge of insurance products, practices and workflows related to the business of an independent broker model.

  • Knowledge of P&C environment within the regions of SGI CANADA’s representation.

  • Knowledge of budget processes and procedures.

  • Knowledge of SGI CANADA’s policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of business processes and organizational units and how they interact to support the Corporation’s operations.

  • Demonstrates strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with industry stakeholders.

  • Ability to write and present material to diverse audiences, tailoring the communication to the needs of each group.

  • Ability to develop proposals, present recommendations in order to obtain co-operation and approval for proposed courses of action, programs and procedures.
