Job description

About you:

You are a hands-on, highly organized equipment engineer who is technically strong across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, controls, and HVAC systems. You're comfortable working directly on the floor and coordinating maintenance and troubleshooting activities across a diverse equipment portfolio in a fast-paced environment. You take ownership of equipment lifecycle and reliability, and you work effectively across Facilities, R&D, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, EHS, and external vendors.

What you'll do:

  • Own the equipment lifecycle from installation and commissioning through operation, maintenance, calibration, relocation, and retirement.

  • Own and maintain the CMMS, ensuring equipment is appropriately classified based on criticality, calibration requirements, maintenance requirements, and regulatory impact.

  • Establish equipment identification, asset tagging, ownership, and documentation standards.

  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, qualification, and handover into routine operation.

  • Assess new equipment for utility, maintenance, calibration, spare parts, and service requirements before deployment.

  • Coordinate internal and third-party calibration and maintenance activities, ensuring calibrations are completed within required intervals.

  • Manage out-of-tolerance (OOT) calibration events and support impact assessments and investigations with Quality and equipment owners.

  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs for critical equipment and facility systems, establishing schedules based on manufacturer recommendations, criticality, operating history, and risk.

  • Perform or coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, controls, pneumatic, refrigeration, HVAC, and other equipment issues as appropriate.

  • Coordinate equipment repairs with vendors, contractors, Engineering, Facilities, and internal technical teams.

  • Analyze recurring failures and lead root cause investigations and corrective actions.

  • Develop strategies to improve equipment reliability, uptime, and maintainability.

  • Support maintenance and reliability of facility infrastructure, including HVAC and environmental systems, compressed air systems, DI/purified water systems, and building automation systems.

  • Participate in equipment qualification, change control, deviation investigations, and CAPAs where applicable.

  • Ensure work orders are documented and closed appropriately, and maintain accurate equipment records, calibration schedules, PM schedules, service records, certificates, manuals, and equipment history.

  • Develop dashboards and KPIs for equipment performance and maintenance effectiveness.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

  • 2–5+ years of experience in equipment engineering, maintenance, reliability, calibration, manufacturing engineering, or a related role.

  • Experience managing preventive maintenance and calibration programs.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, controls, and/or HVAC systems.

  • Experience working with CMMS or computerized equipment-management systems.

  • Strong technical documentation and record-keeping skills.

  • Ability to interpret equipment manuals, drawings, schematics, specifications, and calibration documentation.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a large and diverse equipment portfolio.

  • Experience with equipment qualification, including IQ/OQ/PQ is a bonus.

Compensation range for this role is $80,000 - $90,000 CAD. Final compensation will be determined based on the individual’s demonstrated experience, education, training, relevant certifications or licensure, and other applicable business and organizational factors.

This role is a current, onsite vacancy.
