We're looking for a Project Lead, Distribution to join our Engineering team as we continue to shape the future of energy. As our Project Lead, Distribution, you'll lead the delivery of infrastructure projects that help maintain and strengthen FortisBC's energy systems. Working with internal teams, contractors, consultants, municipalities, and other partners, you'll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and successfully. Success in this role comes from your ability to foster collaboration, build trusted relationships, and keep teams aligned around shared goals. You're an effective communicator and problem solver who can confidently navigate changing priorities, remove barriers, and make sound decisions. You bring strong organizational skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and stakeholder expectations.

You enjoy mentoring others, creating a positive team environment, and driving continuous improvement. Whether you're coordinating with business partners, supporting project teams, or working with external stakeholders, you're motivated by achieving results and making a meaningful impact. Experience in utilities, infrastructure, construction, engineering, or a related industry will help you thrive in this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other equivalent relevant combination of technical education and project management experience plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant responsible experience in engineering project delivery in construction, utility operations, or related industries.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and/or currently registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC).
  • PMP, CAPM, MPM, PPM, CPMP, or similar project management certification is an asset.

Other Qualifications

  • Comprehensive understanding of engineering and construction concepts.
  • Strong knowledge of project lifecycle management and project execution methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, contract administration, and vendor management practices.
  • Experience evaluating engineering proposals, consultant submissions, and technical bid packages.
  • Strong financial management and budget oversight capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and record keeping skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., P6, MS Project, Asana, Jira).
  • Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in engineering project management.
  • Knowledge of Safe work practices, policies, and procedures.
