Hi! We’re Abdo and Lynn, parents of twin boys who are about 20 months old. We live in Toronto’s Junction neighbourhood and are looking for a warm, attentive nanny who enjoys helping young children explore, learn and become more independent. We’d like to start with one or two days a week, with the possibility of increasing later if the arrangement works well for everyone. We’re hoping to build a trusting, lasting relationship with the right person. Schedule and pay • Approximately six to eight hours per day, one or two weekdays a week to start. Specific days and times can be discussed. • Starting as soon as we find the right fit. • An introductory conversation followed by a mutually agreed paid trial before committing to an ongoing arrangement. • Our target budget is $25–$30 gross per hour for both boys together, depending on experience. Please share your expected rate. Our approach to care We’re inspired by Montessori, Reggio Emilia and Waldorf ideas, especially respect for children, open-ended play, curiosity and practical independence. You don’t need to follow one philosophy rigidly. We’re more interested in how you interact with children throughout an ordinary day. We’re looking for someone who: • Speaks warmly and respectfully, listens to children and treats each twin as an individual. • Gives them time to try things themselves, including self-feeding, participating in dressing and working through small challenges, while offering help and comfort when needed. • Handles big feelings with patience and calm boundaries, without shaming, threats or comparisons between the boys. • Enjoys books, music, creative play, nature and outdoor exploration. • Follows their interests and uses open-ended toys and everyday activities to support learning. The boys are screen-free. We don’t use television, tablets or phone videos for entertainment or distraction. We also want personal phone use kept out of active childcare, apart from emergencies and necessary communication. They eat varied, whole-food family meals without added sugar and are used to self-feeding. We’d like someone comfortable supporting this approach and following our food and safety routines. The role includes caring for both boys, supporting meals and naps, planning suitable play and outings, and helping with meal preparation and tidying related to their care. Experience and fit Experience with toddlers is important. Experience caring for twins or two very young children together would be particularly valuable. Montessori/Reggio experience or early-childhood education is welcome, but a thoughtful, responsive approach matters more to us than a label. We’d like someone reliable, comfortable communicating openly with us, and able to provide childcare references, current infant/child CPR and first-aid certification, and appropriate background screening. When you reply Please tell us about your toddler-care experience, your availability, your expected gross hourly rate for both boys, and whether you’d be open to a paid trial. We’d also love a brief example of how you support a toddler’s independence or help them through a difficult moment.
