Our public sector client is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator (7+ years of experience) to deliver infrastructure projects and operational support using Windows Server, VMware, and hybrid Azure services
Join a multi-site public sector environment supporting core infrastructure services across a primarily Windows on-premise and hybrid ecosystem. This role focuses on infrastructure project delivery across Windows Server administration, virtualization, SAN environments, Exchange, desktop systems, and Azure-based services including SharePoint Online, Teams, and Entra. The environment includes ongoing modernization initiatives such as Windows 11 standardization and migration from Exchange to Exchange Online. The position offers hybrid work within Metro Vancouver and participation in a shared on-call rotation supporting critical public services.
Permanent, 50% onsite in New West. 3 days onsite one week, 2 days the next. Some on call work required, must be located in Metro Vancouver.
Must Haves
- 7+ years of progressive IT infrastructure experience in multi-site environments
- Demonstrated experience delivering infrastructure projects, not just day-to-day operations—this role focuses more on project delivery but everyone has to deal with operational issues when they arise.
- Administration of VMware, SAN environments, and hybrid infrastructure platforms
- Support of Azure services including SharePoint Online, Teams, and Entra
- 2-year diploma in an IT-related field or Computer Science degree from an accredited post-secondary institution
Nice to Have
- Hyper-V experience
- Citrix or VDI environment exposure
- Exchange Online migration experience
- Pure Storage administration experience
- Public sector infrastructure environment experience
Responsibilities
- Deliver infrastructure projects across server, virtualization, storage, and hybrid environments
- Support operational issues within Windows-based infrastructure services
- Administer Windows Server environments including legacy and current operating systems
- Manage virtualization platforms and SAN infrastructure across two data centers
- Support Exchange and migration activities to Exchange Online
- Maintain file services, print services, certificate services, DNS, and DHCP
- Participate in a shared on-call rotation supporting production infrastructure
