Job description

Location: Fort AIbany, OntarioPlease note that we are only accepting applications for those with Ontario College of Teachers certification. Peetabeck Academy welcomes a Physical Education Teacher, who shares our vision. Education & Experience • Ontario College of Teachers Certificate is required. • New/experienced teachers are welcomed • Some experience in a similar position is an asset • A demonstrated passion and commitment toward continued professional growth and development • Strong communication skills (written & oral) with students, parents, and administrators • Strong skills to work in a collaborative working environment • Preparing, teaching, and assessing academic subjects on par with the Ontario curriculum • Incorporating First Nation cultural knowledge and activities into the curriculum and classroom teaching in collaboration with the Language and Cultural coordinator • Preparing and updating Individual Education Plans for assigned students • Participating in ongoing Professional Development • Providing necessary information to the Principal for reports • Coordinating meetings with parents and other professionals when necessary • Liaising with other service providers to enhance educational programming, with permission from the school principal To qualify for this role: • Ontario Teaching Certificate is required. • Knowledge of First Nations culture and experience with First Nations students are an asset, as are excellent interpersonal and classroom management skills. • Be a member of the Ontario College of Teachers in good standing or be in the process of trying to obtain Ontario College of Teachers certification, and be able to demonstrate a professional work ethic and experience in a leadership position. • As our ideal candidate for this role, you will have knowledge of culturally responsive teaching practices and be able to integrate First Nations cultural knowledge and activities into the curriculum. In addition, you will have excellent computer literacy skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
