Job Summary
The Nursing Resource Team provides excellent specialized geriatric care across all programs in theHospital including rehabilitation, complex continuing care, palliative care, in-patient psychiatry,behavioural neurology, and transitional care. NRT offers a dynamic opportunity to practice and hone bothclinical and organizational skills across a number of different care settings, while supporting the broaderneeds and demands of the organization. This opportunity is ideal for motivated, adaptable critical thinkers,who are passionate about geriatric care. Our NRT staff are well known and respected for their role within the Hospital community.
Key Responsibilities
- Staff scheduling within a computerized scheduling environment
- Prepares, posts and maintains staffing schedules and attendance records
- Orders supplies, files, and other clerical duties as assigned
- First point of contact and liaison for visitors and patient’s families by telephone and in person
- Maintain on unit patient records and documents
- Provides clerical support to the registered staff, residential areas/communities and Managers
- Print medication administration records (MARs)
- Collects and distributes the mail
- Process unit related service requests
- Schedules resident’s care conferences and appointments, including transportation arrangements
- Follow-up with referring agencies on outstanding clinical information
- Communication and collaboration with other departments as required
- Maintain unit-required lists for operational purposes, e.g. fan-out list
- Support quality improvement initiatives when applicable
Qualifications
- 1 year recent and related clerical experience, in a health care setting or recent completion of a recognized post-secondary Office Administration – Medical program required
- Experience within a computerized scheduling environment required preferred
- Excellent keyboarding skills of 40 wpm, computer skills, including Outlook, MS Word, Excel required
- Experience with Kronos and Meditech preferred
- Experience working in a unionized environment preferred
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
- Detail oriented with exceptional problem-solving skills
