Recycling Operations Supervisor - Nanaimo

We are seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor that is in the reuse, reprocess, reclaim, and repurpose sector. The role is to to oversee daily plant performance, safety compliance, and team leadership at a high-volume materials processing facility. Reporting directly to the Facility Manager, this role focuses on driving operational efficiency, maintaining strict health, safety, and environmental standards, and optimizing product quality and inventory control.

The ideal candidate brings strong frontline leadership from a heavy industrial, processing, or recycling background, with a focus on continuous improvement and team development.

Responsibilities
-Safety & Environmental Compliance: Partner with regional EHS teams to enforce site safety protocols and environmental regulations. Oversee incident investigations, implement corrective actions, and maintain a proactive safety culture across all shift teams.
-Production & Operations Management: Oversee daily processing workflows to hit target production throughput. Forecast monthly output alongside facility leadership and ensure standard operating procedures are consistently met.
-Quality Control & Inventory Management: Maintain accurate material inventories and enforce quality control guidelines to meet customer specs and prevent product downgrades or client claims.
-Maintenance Oversight: Coordinate routine equipment maintenance, log site operational data, and monitor long-term facility equipment needs.
-Team Leadership & Administration: Supervise, train, and mentor hourly production personnel. Manage shift scheduling, performance evaluations, goal setting, and routine HR administrative duties.
-Internal Governance: Ensure strict adherence to internal operational controls, compliance frameworks, and company reporting procedures.

Qualifications
-Experience: 3–5+ years of operational supervisory or lead experience in a heavy industrial, raw materials processing, manufacturing, or recycling environment.
-Education: Post-secondary education, certifications, or coursework in Business, Operations Management, or Project Management is highly valued.
-Technical Skills: Strong analytical and practical problem-solving capabilities; intermediate proficiency with computer systems and operational reporting software.
-Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage, train, and direct hourly production teams within a fast-paced environment.
-Licensing: Valid driver’s license required.
