COMPENSATION

Level II
$82,400 – $103,000 annual salary + a generous benefits package to include medical, dental, vision and 10% employer paid 401A through VOYA Financial.

*Hiring Salary Range: $82,400 – $92,700 annual salary


Level III

$97,850 – $118,450 annual salary + a generous benefits package to include medical, dental, vision and 10% employer paid 401A through VOYA Financial.

*Hiring Salary Range: $97,850 - $108,150 annual salary

SUMMARY

Employees in this classification perform various complex technical and administrative functions related to marketing efforts to increase passenger growth and usage at Ontario International Airport (ONT) and attract new domestic and international airline services. Incumbents will establish and maintain a variety of working relationships with internal and external business professionals, stakeholders, and internal divisions; execute on marketing strategies and plans; assist with organizing assets, timelines, and deliverables; use data to iterate and refine campaigns and/or Marketing and Communication activities and support various departments in maintaining brand voice and consistency.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Marketing Specialist II & III are the advanced & senior-level class within the Marketing Specialist series and are expected to utilize and apply skills and knowledge to perform the duties identified below. Incumbents within this classification initially perform complex assignments and receive increasingly complex duties and responsibilities as experience is gained. This role reports to the Marketing Manager, who manages the Ontario International Airport Authority’s (OIAA) implementation of marketing and communications efforts and initiatives.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Important and essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assists with continuity of comprehensive Marketing and Communications strategies to ensure they align with business goals and objectives.
  • Supports in-house divisions on their marketing or communications needs as assigned.
  • Updates and coordinates website content through a content management system, ensuring accuracy, timely publication, brand consistency, and an effective user experience.
  • Supports newsletters and email marketing communications, including laying out content, graphics, links, coordinating approvals, scheduling, distribution, and performance reporting.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of marketing and communications strategies to attract new domestic and international airlines services.
  • Establishes and maintains effective high-level relationships with key targets and industry partners to position ONT as Southern California’s most desirable international airport regionally, domestically, and globally.
  • Works closely with local stakeholders, community partners, vendors, and other external partners to coordinate assigned marketing and communications projects, assets, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Works to maximize cooperative marketing funds through partnerships with the airlines, tourism industry and relevant businesses to increase awareness and sales of airline seats.
  • Proactively develops new strategies and content focused on building and maintaining a positive perception of the ONT brand and increasing community engagement.
  • Assists with the preparation of accurate and timely reports related to department activities.
  • Collaborates with team members to create dynamic marketing materials and/or creative approaches for programs and activities through graphic design and asset development.
  • Collaborates with creatives (graphic designer, photographer, printer, etc.) on marketing materials and is familiar with terminology in this field (ex. Specs/dimensions; Adobe Suite; DSLR, bleed, install, etc.).
  • Assists with planning of on-property and off-property events including but not limited to: asset development, planning, signage, and other assignments for department activations
  • Does related work as assigned.
  • May occasionally be assigned to other duties for training purposes, technological advances or for emergency response.

Level III
Building on the responsibilities outlined for Level II, the Level III position includes the following additional responsibilities:

  • Manages and coordinates website content through a content management system, ensuring accuracy, timely publication, brand consistency, accessibility, and an effective user experience.
  • Develops, coordinates, and evaluates newsletters and email marketing communications, including content layout, graphics, links, approvals, scheduling, distribution, and performance reporting.
  • Participates in and may train others on the development and implementation of marketing and communications strategies to attract new domestic and international airlines services.

  • Possesses advanced proficiency in the graphic design process from inception to completion

Level III
Building on the profile outlined for Level II, the Level III position includes the following additional qualities:

  • Ability to lead and mentor assigned staff
  • Ability to apply policies and procedures fairly and consistently

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education, training, and experience that would likely provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform in the position.

Level II

  • Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communication, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in marketing, communications, or sales.
  • Experience with graphic design, including proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop.
  • Experience with digital marketing, website content management, and UX design principles is preferred.
  • Experience in marketing for a medium to large commercial airport is desirable.

Level III

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communication, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field is required.
  • Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in marketing, communications, or sales, preferable at a rapid-growth organization.
  • Experience with graphic design, including proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop.
  • Experience with digital marketing, website content management, and UX design.
  • Experience in marketing for a medium to large commercial airport is desirable.
  • Lead or supervisory experience of at least one (1) year is highly desirable.

LICENSES / CERTIFICATION

  • Valid Driver’s License equivalent to a California Class C Driver’s License
  • Acceptable driving record at time of appointment and throughout employment
  • Ability to pass all background / reference checks, knowledge examinations, as well as aptitude tests necessary to obtain an OIAA employee badge at ONT

This is an at-will, exempt position. Only a valid and properly executed employment agreement may alter status as an at-will employee. Verbal contracts are not valid. The employment relationship may be terminated at the will of either party upon notice to the other. As an at-will employee, there would not be an established property interest in continued employment with OIAA.
