About the Opportunity

Public Health Mobile Unit (PHMU) requires Health Support Aides to work with the Mobile Unit Teams to support the day-to-day operations of the program. The role may include routine health and clinic navigational support, basic client care, Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) support, preparing workspaces, preparing and maintaining an inventory of equipment and supplies, providing post-immunization observation support and other support functions. The role includes travel on the Public Health Mobile Unit.

The Public Health Mobile Unit (PHMU) is a collaborative team of healthcare professionals who travel across the province to support a wide range of Public Health initiatives, like vaccination programs, testing for communicable diseases, responding to public health emergencies, and health system navigation. PHMU does this by delivering community-based clinics, working closely with partners and reaching people who face structural, systemic or geographical barriers to accessing healthcare.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade 12 education required
  • Demonstrated physical ability to lift and transfer heavy loads (more than 18kg) required
  • Well-developed interpersonal, teamwork, oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated client-focused, customer service and diversity-relevant approaches to care and work
  • Demonstrated communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Competencies in other languages are an asset
  • Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to change
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer and phone applications for Microsoft Word, Excel, OneDrive, and Outlook
  • Valid Nova Scotia Class 5 driver's license and daily access to a reliable vehicle for work travel. Required to work at multiple sites and travel between various community locations throughout Nova Scotia. The role includes travel on the Public Health Mobile Unit (van).
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods training an asset
  • Current BCLS or CPR training an asset

Hours

  • Casual relief, no guaranteed hours

Compensation and Benefits

$20.74 - $22.65 hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
