Job description

A full-time Technical Systems Sales Specialist position is available in Calgary or Edmonton, supporting Western Canada's industrial sector. This role acts as the primary engineering resource for a technical division that supplies custom surface coating, liquid application, powder finishing, and material dispensing equipment. The position requires a technical background to bridge component design, commercial quoting, and project delivery.

Working directly alongside a regional sales representative, the successful candidate will engage with prospective clients to evaluate facility requirements, process constraints, and target production outputs. Day-to-day duties involve evaluating plant specifications to select appropriate machinery, drafting equipment layouts in AutoCAD, securing component pricing from equipment manufacturers, and building comprehensive technical proposals.

Beyond sales support, this position carries end-to-end responsibility for awarded contracts. This involves tracking schedules, coordinating vendor deliverables, updating project parameters in NetSuite, and producing technical documentation upon job completion. The role also provides technical guidance to internal field service crews and customers during system troubleshooting. The position requires a solid grounding in fluid dynamics or industrial mechanics, strong software proficiency, and the ability to interpret technical engineering drawings.

Advantages
Stability & Tenure: Join an organization where the average employee stay is over 10 years; we invest in long-term career paths.

Competitive Compensation: Robust base salary complemented by a performance-based bonus structure.

Expert Environment: Work with industry-leading brands and high-tier equipment in the oil & gas, mining, and power generation sectors.

Collaborative Culture: A supportive team atmosphere that prioritizes professional development and technical excellence.

Responsibilities
Conduct technical discovery with clients to gather system requirements, plant constraints, and throughput goals

Design complete surface finishing systems, including spray booths, application equipment, ovens, and conveyances

Draft technical sales proposals, perform bill-of-materials estimating, and create plant floor layouts in AutoCAD

Obtain component pricing from original equipment manufacturers and assist sales leads in client discussions

Manage post-sale projects from order placement through final turnover, tracking milestones, scope changes, and project documentation

Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for internal service personnel and customer teams

Maintain accurate sales pipeline, project status, and client records within NetSuite CRM/ERP

Qualifications
Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, or Industrial Engineering Technology.

Certification: A CET (Certified Engineering Technologist) designation is highly preferred.

Experience: Minimum 2 years in industrial paint finishing, powder coating, or complex fluid handling systems (e.g., food/beverage or packaging lines).

Graduation from a recognized Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or Manufacturing Engineering Technology program

Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation is considered an asset

Minimum 2 years of technical experience with industrial powder coating, liquid finishing, or fluid transfer lines

Working knowledge of fluid mechanics, hydraulics, or processing machinery

Proficiency in AutoCAD for plant layout design and Microsoft Excel for system estimating

Experience using ERP/CRM software (NetSuite preferred)

Ability to read P&IDs, electrical schematics, and mechanical specifications

Familiarity with major industrial spray and fluid handling equipment manufacturers
