Job Summary
This is a Senior Data Governance & Migration Lead role for an upcoming Government of Nova Scotia opportunity expected to start in October 2026 and run for at least 1 year. Working as a member of a team responsible for delivering Information technology (IT), data, and records management, the successful candidate will work directly with police agencies and relevant public safety partners to audit and assess the current-state records and data environments ranging from data governance practices to data integration on existing IT systems and to directly lead the implementation of a comprehensive data standardization, cleaning, and migration plan for both digital and paper records. The goal is to prepare all agencies for data and records migration to a new URMS (Unified Records Management System) under The Department of Justice's Police Modernization Unit. Specifically, this role calls for someone with hands-on enterprise data migration experience not a PM, not a cybersecurity resource, not a high-level data architect.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit and assess current-state records and data environments, ranging from data governance practices to data integration on existing IT systems
- Directly lead the implementation of a comprehensive data standardization, cleaning, and migration plan for both digital and paper records
- Prepare all agencies for data and records migration to a new URMS (Unified Records Management System) under The Department of Justice's Police Modernization Unit
- Work directly with police agencies and relevant public safety partners throughout the engagement

Preferred Skills
- Records or information management experience would be an asset
- Background in public sector, healthcare, financial services, utilities, or other regulated environments is relevant and preferred
- Local (Nova Scotia) candidates preferred; out-of-province candidates are also considered
