We are a family in Calgary, Alberta, seeking a compassionate and reliable elder care provider on a part-time basis. Our Mom has lived in an assisted living facility for a year and has home care in place (daily medication/weekly shower), but she needs more help than they have time for. Her kids live or work out of Province, so they can't provide regular care. Mom was recently diagnosed with severe dementia and we have noticed her getting worse faster. That means we would like to get started with elder care soon. We expect a few visits a week might become daily visits overtime. To start, 3 visits / week (Mon, Wed, and Fri), 2 hours / visit. Time is flexible, but would be best if it was the same time each visit. The primary responsibilities include assisting with laundry (incontinence issues) and making sure she drinks her daily Boost (not eating much) and goes for a walk outside (she is totally mobile), and weekly bathing (once a week isn't enough). She won't answer the phone, so it would be nice to use the elder care visit as a chance to get her on the phone or facetime. She can get her hair and nails cut at the facility, but it needs to be managed or she won't go. We want to make sure Mom has what she needs, as well as companionship to make daily life more enjoyable. She loves music and dancing more than anything.
