Part-Time Family Assistant / Nanny Vancouver West Side | ~12 Hours/Week | 3 Shifts/Week | ~$30/hour We are a young family looking for a warm, proactive and highly reliable Family Assistant / Nanny to become a consistent part of our weekly routine. We have an almost-2-year-old daughter and a small Italian Greyhound. This is primarily a childcare role (approximately 70%), with the remaining time spent helping with practical family-assistant tasks. We already have a professional cleaner, so no deep cleaning or laundry is required. SCHEDULE Approximately 12 hours/week, ideally three consistent 4-hour weekday shifts. We have flexibility on exact days/times for the right person and are looking for an ongoing arrangement rather than occasional babysitting. CHILDCARE Our daughter is curious, active and at a really fun age. During childcare shifts, you'll be fully responsible for her so we can step away for work, appointments, etc. Responsibilities may include: * Engaging play, reading, crafts and age-appropriate activities * Walks, playgrounds, library/community activities and other outings * Preparing/serving toddler meals and snacks * Diapering and maintaining her usual routine * Nap time when applicable * Resetting play/eating areas afterward We'd especially love someone who enjoys getting out and exploring with a toddler. We're looking for someone warm and affectionate who is also confident calmly handling normal toddler boundaries, tantrums and redirection. FAMILY ASSISTANT SUPPORT Some shifts, or portions of shifts, may be household-focused instead of childcare. This isn't heavy housekeeping; it's practical support that makes family life easier. Tasks may include: * Grocery shopping and keeping staples stocked * Simple, healthy family meal prep * Toddler meal/snack prep * Washing/cutting produce and preparing grab-and-go foods * Fridge/pantry organization * Household tidying and resets * Restocking household essentials * Simple errands and returns * Small organization projects * Garbage/recycling/compost preparation * Walking our Italian Greyhound * Monitoring dog food, medications and supplies You don't need to be a chef — simple, healthy family food is perfect. No deep cleaning or laundry. HOW THE ROLE WORKS We don't expect every shift to look the same. One day might be: "Take our daughter out for the morning and have fun." Another might be: "We're taking her out today — could you grocery shop, walk the dog, prep some food and reset the house?" Sometimes it will be a combination. We're looking for someone who enjoys that flexibility and can take ownership without needing step-by-step direction. WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR Someone who is: * Genuinely wonderful with toddlers * Warm, calm and engaging * Proactive and independent * Extremely reliable * Organized and efficient * A strong, responsive communicator * Trustworthy and discreet * Comfortable with dogs and basic cooking Meaningful toddler experience and strong references are required. CPR/First Aid is preferred (or willingness to obtain it), as is willingness to complete a background check. Previous nanny, family assistant, au pair, ECE or similar experience is an asset. COMPENSATION Approximately $30/hour depending on experience, for ~12 hours/week, with occasional additional hours if mutually desired.
