Join the Future of Education – Where Passion Meets Purpose

triOS Institute is advancing the establishment of a new private, degree-granting institution in Ontario, with plans to offer innovative bachelor’s and master’s degree programs designed to meet the evolving needs of students, employers, and industry. The Institute is currently working through Ontario’s Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB) process to obtain the required Ministerial Consent to offer degree programs.

This represents an important stage in the development of triOS Institute and reflects a commitment to academic excellence, strong and independent governance, innovation, student success, and career-focused educational outcomes.

As we move toward the next phase of institutional development, triOS Institute is seeking accomplished academic and postsecondary leaders for the role of President. This foundational leadership position will play a significant role in shaping the Institute’s academic vision and culture, strengthening its governance and quality assurance frameworks, advancing regulatory readiness, and leading the development and launch of its initial degree programs.

This is a unique opportunity to help build a new degree-granting institution from the ground up and establish the academic standards, organizational capabilities, partnerships, and student experience that will support triOS Institute’s long-term growth and success.

The Opportunity:

The President serves as the academic leader of triOS Institute and is accountable to the Board of Governors for overall leadership, strategic direction, academic quality, financial sustainability, and operational success of the institution.

What you'll be doing:

As the inaugural President of triOS Institute, this role is responsible for leading the successful establishment, growth, and long-term success of the Institute, including its pursuit of degree-granting status in Ontario.

Strategic Leadership

Develop and implement the Institute's strategic vision and multi-year institutional plan.Lead the establishment and ongoing development of triOS Institute as it pursues and, upon approval, maintains status as a recognized and respected degree-granting institution.Advise and support the Board of Governors on institutional priorities, risks, opportunities, and long-term planning.Deliver a culture of innovation, academic excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Ensure alignment between academic priorities, financial sustainability, and organizational growth.Position triOS Institute as a leader in career-focused graduate education both nationally and internationally.

Academic Leadership

Serve as the senior academic officer of the Institute.Promote academic excellence and continuous quality improvement across all programs.Ensure academic integrity, academic freedom, and institutional accountability.Lead the development, implementation, and review of academic policies and standards.Support Academic Council in exercising its responsibilities for curriculum, academic quality, admissions, progression, graduation, and program review.Implement a culture of scholarly activity, innovation, applied research, and evidence-based decision making.Ensure programs remain responsive to labour market needs and emerging industry trends.

Innovation, Applied Research & Artificial Intelligence

Champion a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and continuous improvement across all academic and institutional activities.Provide strategic leadership for the development and expansion of applied research that addresses real-world challenges and supports industry, government, healthcare, and community partners.Position triOS Institute as a recognized leader in applied research by fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and creating opportunities for faculty, students, and external partners to engage in meaningful research initiatives.Lead the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, digital technologies, and emerging innovations into teaching, learning, research, academic operations, and student services while ensuring ethical, responsible, and transparent use.Promote the responsible adoption of AI to enhance curriculum development, personalized learning, student success, administrative efficiency, institutional decision-making, and academic integrity.Encourage faculty scholarship, research excellence, innovation, knowledge mobilization, and the dissemination of research through publications, conferences, industry engagement, and collaborative projects.Develop strategic partnerships with industry, government, healthcare organizations, research institutions, and technology leaders to expand research capacity, secure funding opportunities, and create experiential learning opportunities for students.Create an innovation ecosystem that supports commercialization, entrepreneurship, intellectual property development, and the translation of research into practical solutions with measurable societal and economic impact.Identify and pursue external research funding opportunities through provincial, federal, international, philanthropic, and private-sector sources to strengthen institutional research capacity.Advance graduate student involvement in applied research by creating opportunities for collaborative projects, internships, capstone experiences, and partnerships that enhance career readiness and workforce development.Promote innovation in teaching methodologies, educational technology, digital learning environments, micro-credentials, and competency-based education to ensure programs remain responsive to evolving workforce needs.Establish a culture of evidence-informed decision-making by leveraging institutional data, learning analytics, and emerging technologies to continuously improve academic quality, student outcomes, and organizational performance.Represent the Institute nationally and internationally as a thought leader in innovation, applied research, artificial intelligence, and the future of higher education.

Governance & Board Relations

Serve as the principal advisor to the Board of Governors.Build productive relationships with Governors and Board Committees.Ensure effective governance practices consistent with Ontario legislation and best practices.Support the work of Academic Council and ensure clear governance relationships between the Board and Academic Council.Prepare regular reports regarding institutional performance, strategic initiatives, financial health, enrolment, regulatory compliance, and risk management.

Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance

Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, regulations, and quality assurance requirements.Oversee institutional quality assurance processes.Ensure successful accreditation reviews, audits, and periodic quality assessments.Maintain institutional policies consistent with regulatory expectations.

Student Experience & Success

Champion an exceptional student experience from admission through graduation and alumni.Promote student engagement, accessibility, equity, wellness, and inclusion.Support student services that enhance academic success and graduate outcomes.Create a culture focused on student achievement and career readiness.Ensure graduates possess the knowledge, skills, and competencies required by employers.

Financial Management

Lead the development and implementation of annual operating and capital budgets.Ensure sound financial stewardship and institutional sustainability.Identify opportunities for revenue growth, partnerships, grants, and research funding.Monitor institutional performance through measurable key performance indicators.Ensure resources are effectively allocated to support strategic priorities.

External Relations & Partnerships

Serve as the principal spokesperson for triOS Institute.Build strong relationships with government officials, regulatory agencies, employers, professional associations, universities, colleges, healthcare organizations, and community partners.Represent the Institute at provincial, national, and international events.Promote the Institute's mission, vision, and strategic priorities.Develop partnerships that strengthen student opportunities, research, innovation, and graduate employment.

People Leadership & Culture

Recruit, mentor, develop, and retain high-performing academic and administrative leaders.Build a respectful, inclusive, collaborative workplace culture.Promote employee engagement, leadership development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness.Ensure accountability through performance management and institutional planning.Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging throughout the institution.

Risk Management

Identify strategic, financial, operational, legal, academic, and reputational risks.Ensure appropriate enterprise risk management practices.Develop business continuity and emergency preparedness plans.Maintain effective internal controls and institutional policies.

What you bring to the position:

Earned doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DBA, JD, MD, or equivalent terminal degree). For credentials obtained internationally, equivalency must be assessed by a recognized Canadian credential assessment service. Additional executive leadership education or governance certification is considered an asset.Minimum 15 years of progressively senior leadership experience within post-secondary education.Significant executive experience as a President, Vice-President, Provost, Dean, or equivalent senior executive.Experience working directly with Boards of Governors.Experience working within academic governance structures.Strong understanding of Ontario's post-secondary education system.Experience with quality assurance, accreditation, and regulatory approval processes.Demonstrated financial and strategic planning expertise.Experience leading organizational change.Strong government relations and stakeholder management experience.Proven ability to establish strategic partnerships with industry and community organizations.Experience overseeing graduate education is highly desirable.Qualified candidate must reside in Ontario, or willing to relocate to Ontario prior to starting this role.
