Position Summary Reporting to the Vice President, Strategy, Research & Communications, the Manager, Corporate Strategy & Enterprise Performance supports the development, implementation, and ongoing management of Travel Alberta's corporate strategy and enterprise performance framework.

The role provides strategic analysis, performance insights, reporting, and coordination to support the achievement of organizational priorities and measurable outcomes.

The Manager plays a central role in translating Travel Alberta's corporate strategy into integrated planning, performance measurement, reporting, and accountability processes.

Working closely with leaders across the organization, the role supports the development of enterprise priorities, performance measures, and reporting frameworks that enable informed decision-making, organizational alignment, and continuous performance improvement.

The Manager leads the development of key corporate planning and reporting deliverables, including enterprise performance reports, annual reports, corporate planning materials, strategic presentations, and executive decision-support products.

Drawing on information from across the organization, the role synthesizes complex issues, trends, and performance data into clear, concise, and actionable insights for the Vice President and Senior Leadership Team.

Working collaboratively across Travel Alberta, the Manager builds strong relationships with leaders and subject matter experts to align corporate strategy, business planning, performance measurement, and organizational outcomes.

The role requires strong emotional intelligence, political acuity, and the ability to influence, facilitate, and build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups without formal authority.

The Manager also supports enterprise strategic planning and priority initiatives through environmental scanning, research, trend analysis, and issue assessment.

The role identifies opportunities, risks, dependencies, and emerging issues that may affect organizational priorities and provides strategic recommendations for consideration by senior leadership.

The position will assume responsibility for coordination and continuous improvement of Travel Alberta's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, processes, reporting, and related governance activities.

The Manager does not have direct reports initially but is expected to demonstrate leadership through cross-functional collaboration, project leadership, facilitation, and the ability to mobilize teams toward shared outcomes.

The role may provide functional leadership and guidance to project teams, working groups, and enterprise initiatives as required.

Key Responsibilities 1.

Corporate Strategy & Strategic Planning: Work alongside the Vice President, Strategy, Research & Communications to lead the strategic and annual planning processes, supporting the development, implementation, and ongoing evolution of Travel Alberta’s corporate strategy.

Translate strategic direction established by the Vice President and Senior Leadership Team into enterprise priorities, objectives, measures, and business planning requirements.

Lead the development of the business plan in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team and business areas, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and organizational priorities.

Conduct environmental scanning, research, and strategic analysis to identify trends, opportunities, emerging issues, risks, and external factors that may influence Travel Alberta’s strategic direction, and prepare recommendations for the Vice President and Senior Leadership Team.

Support strategic planning sessions, workshops, and enterprise discussions by developing materials, facilitating input, synthesizing information, and documenting outcomes.

Monitor progress against strategic priorities and identify areas requiring further analysis or follow-up.

Maintain planning frameworks, documentation, tools, and supporting materials while providing strategic planning guidance to leaders across the organization.

Ensure strategic planning activities are integrated with budgeting, performance measurement, and reporting processes.

Enterprise Performance Measurement & Reporting: Lead the development, coordination, and ongoing management of Travel Alberta’s enterprise performance measurement and reporting processes.

Partner with business areas to develop, maintain, and report on enterprise-level performance measures, indicators, targets, and reporting requirements aligned with corporate strategy.

Develop enterprise performance reports, dashboards, briefing materials, and analysis that provide actionable insights to support executive decision-making.

Analyze organizational performance data to identify trends, variances, opportunities, risks, and areas requiring attention.

Identify connections and dependencies across business areas and help leaders understand how individual priorities contribute to enterprise outcomes.

Establish and continuously improve performance reporting processes, tools, and methodologies to support consistent, timely, and meaningful reporting.

Support the integration of performance measurement into business planning and strategic decision-making.

Annual Report & Corporate Reporting: Lead the coordination and development of Travel Alberta’s Annual Report and related corporate reporting activities under the direction of the Vice President.

Establish timelines, processes, templates, and information requirements to coordinate contributions from across the organization.

Coordinate the collection, validation, analysis, and synthesis of information to develop clear, accurate, and strategically relevant corporate reporting materials.

Develop compelling narratives that communicate Travel Alberta’s strategic priorities, activities, outcomes, and impact, while demonstrating clear connections between organizational performance and strategic outcomes.

Coordinate reviews and approvals with internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with corporate direction.

Identify opportunities to improve the quality, clarity, accessibility, and strategic relevance of corporate reporting.

Support the development of other corporate planning and reporting materials, including business plans, strategic updates, executive reports, and organizational performance materials.

Maintain effective processes and documentation to support the timely delivery of reporting requirements.

  • Risk Management & Enterprise Risk: Support Travel Alberta’s ability to anticipate, understand, and respond to risks and opportunities that could impact organizational performance, strategic priorities, and long-term sustainability.

Lead the coordination and continuous improvement of Travel Alberta's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, processes, reporting, and related governance activities.

Facilitate the identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting of enterprise risks, ensuring key risks are understood, documented, and actively managed.

Monitor and assess internal and external risk factors, including strategic, operational, industry, economic, geopolitical, regulatory, technology, and reputational risks that may affect Travel Alberta's objectives.

Analyze emerging trends, interdependencies, and risk scenarios to identify potential impacts on organizational priorities, tourism sector performance, and strategic outcomes.

Provide risk insights, analysis, and recommendations to senior leaders to support decision-making, resource allocation, business planning, and organizational resilience.

Support the integration of risk considerations into strategic planning, annual business planning and performance management processes.

Prepare risk reports, briefings, and presentations for Executive Leadership, the Board, and Board Committees.

Executive Presentation & Strategic Communications: Develop high-quality presentations, dashboards, briefing materials, reports, and other decision-support products for the Vice President and Senior Leadership Team.

Support the development of Board materials and preparation of senior leaders for Board engagements, as required.

Translate strategic information, performance data, research, and analysis into clear, concise, and compelling executive narratives.

Determine the appropriate level of detail, messaging, and presentation approach for different executive audiences.

Support the Vice President and senior leaders in preparing for strategic discussions.

Ensure materials are accurate, visually effective, and aligned with corporate strategy and organizational messaging.

Present analysis and recommendations to senior leaders with clarity, confidence, and appropriate context.

Work collaboratively with Communications and other internal teams where strategic information needs to be translated into broader organizational communications.

Strategic Initiative & Project Leadership: Lead the planning and execution of assigned enterprise strategic initiatives and projects.

Establish project objectives, deliverables, timelines, stakeholder requirements, and measures of success.

Coordinate cross-functional project teams and working groups to ensure progress and accountability.

Identify project risks, dependencies, issues, and resource requirements and bring forward recommendations as appropriate.

Provide regular updates to the Vice President and relevant leaders on progress and outcomes.

Facilitate meetings, workshops, and working sessions to advance strategic initiatives.

Ensure projects remain aligned with corporate priorities and deliver intended outcomes.

Apply project management and change management practices appropriate to the complexity and scope of initiatives.

Required Qualifications 1.

Education & Experience: Post-secondary degree in Business, Economics, Public Administration, Strategy, Tourism, Organizational Development, or a related discipline.

A graduate degree is considered an asset.

A minimum of 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning, enterprise performance, business planning, management consulting, organizational effectiveness, or a related strategic capacity.

Demonstrated experience supporting or leading corporate strategy development, strategic planning, enterprise performance measurement, or organizational planning processes.

Demonstrated experience developing executive-level reports, presentations, briefing materials, dashboards, and decision-support documents.

Proven ability to analyze complex information, identify key insights, assess implications, and develop evidence-based recommendations.

Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional projects, initiatives, working groups, or strategic planning processes.

Experience working effectively with senior leaders and providing strategic advice, analysis, and decision support.

Demonstrated ability to influence and build alignment across an organization without relying on formal authority.

Strong experience working in environments with multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, ambiguity, and evolving organizational needs.

Demonstrated leadership experience, including leading projects, initiatives, working groups, or teams.

Formal people leadership experience is considered an asset.

Experience developing corporate reports, annual reports, business plans, or similar organizational accountability documents is considered an asset.

Experience with enterprise risk management is considered an asset.

Experience within a Crown corporation, public-sector organization, regulated environment, tourism organization, destination management organization, or similarly complex organization is considered an asset.

Tourism experience is considered an asset but is not required.
