This unique role sits at the intersection of clinical practice, digital health, informatics, quality improvement, and organizational transformation. The successful candidate will provide leadership in clinical informatics, electronic health record (EHR) optimization, workflow redesign, and organizational readiness as Halton Healthcare continues its digital transformation journey and advances planning activities related to its future Health Information System (HIS) strategy.

Working within Professional Practice and in close partnership with Digital Health, this role will lead clinical informatics initiatives, support MEDITECH Expanse optimization, drive workflow standardization, coordinate HIS readiness activities, and help ensure digital solutions are safe, effective, and aligned with clinical best practices.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence care delivery across the organization and play a key role in one of the most significant healthcare transformation initiatives in the region.

What You'll Do

Clinical Informatics Leadership

  • Provide functional leadership and coordination to the Clinical Informatics team through a matrix leadership model.

  • Support clinical informatics intake, prioritization, governance, and portfolio planning.

  • Act as a bridge between clinical programs, Professional Practice, Digital Health, ICT, and operational leaders.

  • Represent clinical informatics and Professional Practice perspectives on organizational committees, working groups, and governance forums.

  • Support strategic alignment of informatics initiatives with organizational priorities, patient safety goals, and digital transformation objectives.

EHR Optimization & Digital Transformation

  • Lead and support MEDITECH Expanse optimization initiatives that improve safety, usability, workflow efficiency, and clinical documentation quality.

  • Translate clinical workflows, policies, documentation requirements, order sets, and medical directives into digital workflow requirements.

  • Conduct workflow analysis and identify opportunities for standardization, automation, and process improvement.

  • Collaborate with ICT, application teams, vendors, and clinical subject matter experts to support system enhancements and workflow redesign.

  • Identify and mitigate EHR-related risks impacting patient safety, compliance, and operational effectiveness.

HIS Readiness & Organizational Transformation

  • Support organizational HIS readiness initiatives and future-state clinical workflow planning.

  • Participate in HIS governance, planning, and readiness activities.

  • Lead current-state workflow assessments and identify opportunities for standardization, simplification, and digital maturity.

  • Coordinate clinical engagement, readiness planning, and implementation activities associated with major digital health initiatives.

  • Support testing, validation, training readiness, adoption planning, and operational preparedness for system enhancements and future HIS initiatives.

  • Contribute to future-state workflow design and clinical transformation activities that support organizational digital health objectives.

  • Partner with Professional Practice, Digital Health, ICT, and operational leaders to ensure clinical requirements are incorporated into HIS planning and readiness activities.

Education, Change Management & Adoption

  • Develop and support digital health education strategies and learning resources.

  • Coordinate readiness communications, workflow guides, tip sheets, and training materials.

  • Support Digital Champions, super-users, and clinical subject matter experts.

  • Provide coaching and consultation to support adoption of new workflows and digital tools.

  • Promote continuous learning and evidence-informed practice.

Quality Improvement & Patient Safety

  • Use data, audits, incident reviews, workflow observations, and user feedback to identify improvement opportunities.

  • Support quality improvement initiatives that leverage digital solutions to improve patient outcomes and care delivery.

  • Monitor and evaluate implementation outcomes and adoption metrics.

  • Escalate and mitigate digital health risks affecting patient safety, workflow reliability, or regulatory compliance.

  • Ensure all digital initiatives align with organizational quality, safety, and accreditation standards.

Qualifications

Education

  • Undergraduate degree in Nursing or another regulated health profession.

  • Current registration in good standing with the applicable professional regulatory body.

  • Experience supporting EHR optimization, implementation, workflow redesign, or digital transformation initiatives.

  • Experience working in complex healthcare environments and leading through influence in a matrix structure.

  • Experience participating in governance committees, cross-functional working groups, or large-scale organizational initiatives.

  • Experience supporting major EHR implementations, digital transformation programs, or organizational HIS initiatives is considered a strong asset.

  • Experience with enterprise clinical systems, clinical workflow transformation, or large-scale change management initiatives is considered an asset.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows, documentation standards, and interprofessional practice.

  • Knowledge of clinical informatics principles and digital health best practices.

  • Experience with workflow mapping, business process redesign, implementation planning, and change management.

  • Knowledge of EHR systems, preferably MEDITECH Expanse.

  • Understanding of HIS readiness planning, clinical workflow standardization, and organizational transformation initiatives.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to analyze complex issues and translate clinical requirements into practical digital solutions.
