About this opportunity:

The Senior Subsea Hardware Engineer provides technical stewardship, integrity management, and system coordination for subsea production infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The role is responsible for monitoring equipment performance, leading anomaly investigations, managing technical risks, identifying and implementing innovative subsea repair and intervention solutions, and advancing digitalization initiatives. Working closely with Operations, Projects, Integrity, and external partners, the position delivers engineering studies, risk mitigation plans, and system improvement initiatives that support asset reliability, production performance, and long-term subsea asset integrity. The successful candidate is a proactive and collaborative engineer with strong technical expertise in subsea systems, asset integrity, and hardware reliability. They are capable of solving complex technical challenges, making risk-informed decisions, and identifying innovative solutions to extend asset life and improve operational performance. Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to influence multidisciplinary teams are essential, along with a commitment to continuous improvement, safety, and operational excellence.

This position is a full-time, permanent position, located at our St. John’s office with occasional travel offshore.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide technical stewardship, integrity management, and system coordination for assigned subsea production infrastructure, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation throughout the asset lifecycle.

  • Monitor subsea equipment performance, investigate anomalies and failures, conduct engineering assessments and risk analyses, and develop mitigation plans to address integrity, reliability, and production-related challenges.

  • Lead and execute engineering studies, technical evaluations, and performance assessments to optimize subsea system functionality, improve operational reliability, enhance production, and support long-term asset management objectives.

  • Develop, evaluate, and implement subsea inspection, intervention, repair, modification, and life-extension strategies that maintain asset integrity, reduce operational risk, and maximize asset value.

  • Support and advance subsea digitalization initiatives, including implementation of digital monitoring tools and digital twin technologies to enhance system surveillance, predictive decision-making, performance optimization, and integrity management.

  • Manage subsea anomalies, risk registers, corrective actions, and integrity-related documentation, ensuring timely investigation, reporting, tracking, resolution, and closure of identified issues.

  • Provide technical leadership and engineering support for project development, design reviews, modifications, commissioning, startup, operational readiness, and ongoing integrity management activities associated with subsea infrastructure.

  • Coordinate inspection programs, repair campaigns, intervention activities, and engineering improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with technical standards, regulatory requirements, and company objectives.

  • Collaborate with operations, projects, integrity teams, contractors, vendors, and external engineering partners to deliver subsea engineering solutions, execute risk reduction initiatives, and achieve production and reliability targets.

  • Prepare and deliver technical recommendations, investigation reports, risk assessments, business cases, and engineering documentation to support operational decisions, asset optimization opportunities, and production enhancement initiatives.

  • Serve as the technical focal point for assigned subsea systems, providing expertise and guidance to stakeholders while ensuring effective execution of engineering deliverables, integrity programs, and reliability improvement efforts.

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • 8+ years of engineering experience with 5+ years of offshore oil and gas experience in Subsea Engineering and Operations preferred

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree

  • A member in good standing or eligible for registration with Professional Engineers and Geoscientist Newfoundland & Laboratory (PEGNL)

  • Experience in operational engineering support for oil and gas subsea systems

  • Experience in engineering design, fabrication, and testing for oil and gas equipment

  • Knowledge of industry standards for offshore oil and gas equipment

  • Experience with offshore subsea installation scopes

  • Contract and facilities management experience

  • Experience with subsea control systems

This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to offshore pre-placement Fitness for Work assessments, which includes drug and alcohol screening, a CAPP medical and BST/HUEBA testing.

You must be able to travel via helicopter and boat. This position requires the successful candidate travel offshore, there you will be required to obtain and maintain medical clearance and obtain all required training necessary for offshore travel.

This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to pre-placement Fitness for Work assessments, which includes drug and alcohol screening, a medical and driver’s abstract review.
