What is the opportunity?
As a Lease Underwriting Associate, you'll play a critical role in RBC Equipment Finance's growth by identifying and managing risks associated with equipment financing transactions. This position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of client service and risk management, collaborating with Equipment Financing Specialists, internal partners, and RBC Enterprise Groups to deliver innovative lease solutions. You'll build expertise in lease structures, equipment valuation, and transaction management while contributing to RBC's One RBC mindset through seamless cross-functional collaboration.
What will you do?
- Transaction Processing: Review and process Fast Track deals, ABC renewals, lease restructures, amalgamations, and asset substitutions within established timelines and quality standards (80% of role)
- Risk Management & Compliance: Identify and escalate transaction risks; ensure compliance with RBC Equipment Finance policies; conduct comprehensive due diligence on know-your-client and transaction details; adhere to anti-money laundering and fraud prevention requirements (20% of role)
- Client Service: Deliver exceptional client experiences through efficient, accurate transaction handling; document key details in systems; escalate concerns promptly to minimize client impact
- Quality Assurance: Ensure accuracy and completeness of underwriting activities; maintain data integrity across systems; participate in process improvement initiatives
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
- 2-4 years in a fast-paced, client-facing office environment
- Working knowledge of lease, financing, and ancillary documentation
- Good math skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
- Sound judgment and risk assessment capabilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Excellent customer service skills with proven conflict resolution
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills
- Self-directed learner with strong willingness to develop capabilities
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Post-secondary education
Nice to Have
- Understanding of RBC Equipment Finance policies and procedures
- Understanding of PPSA/RDPRM laws across Canada
