Adecco is currently hiring an experienced Senior Construction Estimator on behalf of our client in Vaughan, ON. This is an outstanding opportunity for a construction professional with extensive experience in commercial, industrial, institutional, and civil construction estimating who is looking to play a key role in securing and delivering high-profile projects.
As a Senior Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates, leading bid submissions, performing quantity take-offs, evaluating project risks, coordinating subcontractor pricing, and supporting pre-construction planning. You will work closely with project managers, operations teams, consultants, subcontractors, and executive leadership to deliver winning bids while ensuring profitability and risk management.

Responsibilities:
Estimating & Pre-Construction
- Prepare conceptual, budget, and detailed construction estimates.
- Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Complete quantity take-offs and pricing exercises.
- Develop competitive bid submissions for Hard Bid, Design-Build and Construction Management projects
- Develop and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project.
- Evaluate project scope, risks, and construction methodologies.
Cost Analysis & Value Engineering
- Develop accurate labour, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.
- Analyze project risks and apply contingencies where required.
- Recommend efficient construction methods and alternative approaches.
Subcontractor & Supplier Management
- Solicit, analyze, and compare subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and pricing discrepancies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers.
- Support procurement planning and bid strategy development.
Reporting & Database Management
- Maintain estimating databases, historical costs, labour rates, and unit pricing.
- Prepare bid summaries, estimate reviews, cost breakdowns, and management reports.
- Monitor market conditions, pricing trends, and construction cost escalations.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Partner with Project Managers, Operations Teams, and Senior Leadership throughout the bidding process.
- Participate in project handoff meetings to ensure successful project startup.
- Mentor and support junior estimators and team members.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the estimating department.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Degree, Diploma, or Technical Training in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Engineering Technology or Related Construction Discipline
- Minimum 10 years of construction estimating experience
- Experience with a General Contractor or equivalent construction environment
- Proven experience estimating Commercial Construction, Industrial Construction, Institutional Construction, Civil / Infrastructure Projects
- Strong knowledge of Construction contracts, Procurement methods, Quantity take-offs, Cost estimating, Construction scheduling, Construction means and methods
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Project
- Strong knowledge of estimating software and project management tools
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Strong understanding of construction costs, market pricing, and project risk analysis
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Team-focused with the ability to work independently
- Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
